Visual Designer

Are you constantly thinking about improving the visual design for your apps? Are you in love with video, motion graphics, and illustration? We’re looking for a Visual Designer with a strong UX and graphic design background to support the launch of several new features for learners. You will be challenged in an organization that values vision, execution, and persistence. You will take ownership of our product by solving complex problems in simple, elegant ways. Visual Designers at Pearson are embedded within product teams that are deeply collaborative, and each member is directly responsible for the team’s success.

Key Accountabilities

  • Become a domain expert in your product area

  • Strategize and execute on the creation of assets for multiple platforms

  • Be proactive in seeking new knowledge and connections in your space

  • Collaborate with content, product, and engineering teams from concept through delivery to deliver business objectives

  • Help shape the team’s roadmap by understanding and advocating for user needs

  • Approach an open-ended problem space with vigor and clarity

  • Think holistically about the user journey and product ecosystem

  • Create elegant solutions to complex problems

  • Participate in user research and testing, ensuring usability and product consistency

  • Collaborate with our Design Systems team to ensure your work integrates into our ecosystem

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years’ experience in digital-related design with an online portfolio of high-impact, relevant visual design work

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a design related field

  • Strong business acumen and experience in partnering directly with UX Product designers and Front-End Developers

  • Excellent communication, self-management, and organizational skills

  • Highly collaborative in nature and commanding a positive mindset

  • Proven experience in:

  • Delivering consumer-grade native apps

  • Familiarity with design trends in mobile, web, and motion design

  • Working with design systems

  • Explaining design rationale concisely and effectively

  • Current design tools including Figma, Sketch, and Adobe

  • Agile, lean UX, and mobile first

  • Understanding the relationship of visual, interaction, and content disciplines

  • Digital educational content (desirable)
