Job Purpose

Pearson has a long and successful history and leads the way in the development of its qualification offer across general and vocational qualifications, the majority of subjects and sectors, and across all levels. Our qualifications are developed against world class benchmarks to ensure that we equip learners with the underpinning knowledge, skills and behaviours needed for them to be successful in their careers. We also make sure that we support those delivering our qualifications with high quality teaching and learning solutions, training and continuous professional development: a fully integrated approach to teaching, learning and assessment. Alongside these developments we complement our offer by ensuring that, for the future, our solutions are offered digitally.

At this time of significant change in the education system and the move to develop differentiated pathways for learners, we need to ensure that we continue to be the leading brand and are at the forefront of providing innovative solutions.

Our focus is applied, technical and professional qualifications, holistic apprenticeship and other tender solutions, integrated teaching and learning support and digitally-enabled learning support and assessment.

Key Accountabilities:

  • To work with colleagues to provide best-in-class training and continue to seek to improve customer experience

  • To product manage BTEC training projects (e.g. training events, networks, conferences, e-learning modules, recordings) from planning through development to operational delivery, execution and feedback evaluation

  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of competitor activity, specifically (but not necessarily limited to) the training programmes offered by other awarding bodies, tracking and anticipating their activity

  • Developing strategy and propositions, managing budgets, and forecasting

  • Create blended learning BTEC training propositions that have clear USPs, have a good customer experience, are part of our integrated digital proposition, are aligned to our qualifications’ strategy, have a clear rationale for being complimentary or paid-for and meet agreed financial targets

  • Track, analyse and respond to competitor activity

  • Manage budgets for designated projects

  • Contribute to the financial and strategic planning process, in particular KPIs, budgets and resource plans for designated projects

  • Supporting customers through the lifecycle and improving customer experience

  • Monitor BTEC customer experience of our training offer at regular points (from customer satisfaction tracking to regular, in-depth qualitative insight)

  • Work with colleagues across the business (e.g. virtual sector qualification teams, Training for Pearson, Sales, Marketing, Customer Services, GQ and HEQ PD) to provide best-in-class customer experience, to deliver consistently high satisfaction and retention levels, and to grow take up of our BTEC training offer

  • Anticipate and meet customer needs better than our competitors, defining and commissioning training at launch and throughout the lifecycle as part of a coherent, integrated proposition across our complimentary and paid-for offer

  • Briefing, developing and project managing BTEC training

  • Plan, budget, commission and deliver on all BTEC training needs (e.g. Getting Started, Enhancing Delivery, Standardisation) as well as the organisation of networks and in centre training requirements that meet the evolving needs of customers that deliver the approved strategy and propositions to the agreed quality, time and budget

  • Work with the colleagues across the wider business to arrange event content sign off within agreed SLAs

  • Constantly review the BTEC training programme to recommend and implement actions to ensure best reach and quality, e.g. through timely cancellations, postponements and mop-up events

  • Work with colleagues (e.g. Web Content Management, Marketing and Sales) as well as Third Party Suppliers to create and maintain good user experiences so customers can easily book onto our events, provide feedback and receive follow-up information

  • Leadership and people management

  • Work effectively in virtual teams with colleagues across Pearson to ensure a positive working culture, in support of Pearson UK BTEC and Apprenticeships divisional strategies

  • Champion a ‘customer first’ culture across Pearson, ensuring that all decisions are made with reference to the needs of our customers and learners

  • Lead on departmental initiatives to deliver better service to our customers and learners, and drive growth
