Subject Lead, Computing & Technologies (Higher Education)

Reporting to Head of Higher Education Research and Qualifications
This is an exciting opportunity to join our Pearson Higher Education Qualifications family in our Central London head office. This department is responsible for qualification design, development and product management for higher education qualifications, including the BTEC Higher National Certificate (HNC) and BTEC Higher National Diploma (HND) qualifications.
The Subject Lead for Computing and Technologies will be the primary subject expert, senior academic, and learning/teaching advisor for identified sectors of higher education qualifications. This role has a primary focus on Digital disciplines, but will also encompass new technologies in a range of sectors where frequent digital developments require an ability to act quickly to respond to market requirements, leverage opportunities and advise/act in sectors beyond Computing. This is an exciting opportunity to make a positive difference for our business and students.
Your Key Responsibilities
Maintain a deep understanding of the higher education qualification market in sectors as directed by business needs.
Subject expert and lead with regards to sector external liaison with professional bodies, employers, regulators and higher education providers.
Responsible for leading a team of curriculum developers in order to produce higher education qualifications.
Responsible for ensuring the accuracy of information, the academic credibility of modules, and the relevancy of the subject for industry purposes, both domestically in the UK and internationally.
Commissioning and liaising with learning designers, multimedia developers and educational technologists to develop online qualifications and associated learning resources.
Provide teaching and learning support, including training, in the subject area and generally for centres offering Pearson higher education qualifications and services.
Drive effective and efficient adoption of the identified sector suites of higher education qualifications, meeting registration and revenue targets.
Our Successful Candidate
We welcome applicants with a Degree in a relevant discipline, preferably at Masters level, along with experience in Higher Education (HE) teaching and/or curriculum design. You’ll have a genuine passion for HE that develops students intellectually and professionally. Commercial knowledge of product development/product management would also be a great advantage!
