Global Legal plays an important role in protecting the Group’s reputation by helping to future-proof the organisation through robust legal risk and issue advisory. Responsible for providing comprehensive legal advice to senior management and all global businesses and functions, the team offers a diverse range of legal skills, jurisdictional experience and practice specialisms across all countries and territories in which our businesses operate.

We are currently seeking an ambitious individual to join our team as an Senior Legal Counsel, working together with colleagues to define, manage and achieve divisional business targets.

Role Purpose

Global Investigations and Regulatory Enforcement ("GIRE") is a specialist team within Group Legal responsible for the investigation of all allegations or incidents involving impropriety or possible breaches in law, regulation or policy that pose significant legal, regulatory and/or reputational risk to the Group or its affiliates. These significant investigations are subject to attorney client privilege and work product protections.

The Role Holder will be responsible for conducting investigations into significant matters, will make process and control recommendations as appropriate, will assist with the management of GIRE’s operations, including reporting, assurance, audit and other mission critical operations.

In this role, you will:

  • Provide counsel for assigned areas of responsibility. including matters that are highly complex or have potential for legal. financial and/or reputational impact across the Group
  • Responsible for preparing investigation reports that analyse the potential issues and recommend, as appropriate, process and control improvements
  • Assist in establishing guidelines and procedures across the Group for internal investigations
  • Identify matters that are appropriate to target for investigations as well as react to referrals from internal and external sources
  • Refer matters, as appropriate, within the organization
  • Assist in the oversight and management of GIRE, including on reporting, audit, assurance and strategic planning matters

Requirements

To be successful in the role, you should meet the following requirements:

  • It is the role of the Senior Legal Counsel to assist the Co-Heads in conducting investigations that are thorough. timely and result in recommendations designed to reasonably address any risk uncovered through the investigation as well as to ensure referrals have been made as appropriate to address the findings of the investigation
  • The role holder will play an active role in the oversight of GIRE’s strategic planning, reporting, audit and assurance work
