Qualification Details

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

• PhD or equivalent academic qualifications with a specialization in art history and visual studies
• Fluent oral and written communication skills in English and in Norwegian or another Scandinavian language
• Successful candidates must be able to teach in Norwegian or another Scandinavian language from the starting date
• Personal suitability and motivation for the position

In the evaluation of the applicants, emphasis will be placed on:

• Pedagogical qualifications and practice, mainly from universities or higher education institutions, see How to document your pedagogical skills
• Pedagogical qualifications, documented results from teaching and supervision, and ability to inspire students
• Experience in producing text books, compilations and lecture notes or experience in internet based teaching/flexible learning
• Interest and ability in leadership and administration
• Good teamwork skills and experience
• Professional competence and publication in the field
• motivation for and experience with pedagogical development and educational planning

Successful candidates who at the time of appointment cannot document basic teaching qualifications will be required to obtain such qualifications within a two year period.

Successful candidates should demonstrate mastery of both English and one of the Scandinavian languages as working languages, and must be able to teach in Norwegian or another Scandinavian language from the starting date.

Responsibilities/Job Description

Two positions as Senior Lecturer (SKO 1198) in Art History and Visual Studies are available at the Department of Philosophy, Classics, History of Art and Ideas, University of Oslo.

The positions are assigned a coordinating responsibility for introductory-level teaching on the BA program and the one-year diploma course in Art History and Visual Studies. Teaching and supervision on higher-level courses may also be required. The positions require versatility and a broad orientation, but expertise which will complement and strengthen the section's established profile might be prioritized.
