Summary:          

Bechtel’s Infrastructure division is hiring a Senior Business Development professional with experience and an extensive network in the utility-scale renewable energy industry (onshore wind and utility-scale PV solar). The role will have primary responsibility for customer relationship and account management to identify, evaluate, and develop new Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) work within the Renewables business.  Additional responsibilities will include developing win strategies, gaining internal support and leading marketing and business development activities associated with advancing Bechtel-developed prospects and winning new work on a competitive basis. 

 

Key Job Duties:

Lead business development efforts to identify and cultivate new EPC opportunities in America's onshore wind and utility-scale solar market to meet the company’s new work booked plan.

Utilize network to open doors to new EPC opportunities.

Support various customer accounts simultaneously.

Develop relationships with targeted individuals, groups and organizations using a broad knowledge of commercial structuring.

Establish, build and manage relationships between managers and key executives in customer and prospective customer organizations.

Coordinate with the Bechtel Enterprise team for project acquisition and investment recommendations.

Develop management approval documentation and presentation material in support of all activities in the business cycle.

Develop the capture strategy for specific prospects. 

Remain abreast of the business development activity and strategy of competitors, including service offerings, pricing trends, and business development approaches. 

Follow up on jobs won and lost to capture lessons learned for future pursuits.

Work with the Proposal Development Manager to supervise and participate in the preparation and coordination of proposals, including developing and managing proposal win plans and budgets.

Generate revenue by leading sales outreach activities including opportunity identification, pipeline management, evaluation, negotiations, and deal execution.

Identify and evaluate technical, strategic and commercial structures that will support successful project execution.

Lead the negotiations of all commercial agreements, including the applicable execution contracts.

Prepare and secure appropriate internal approvals related to the deal and contracting structure.

Recommend and support the research of current and possible future strategic markets and objectives.

Maintain contacts with appropriate industry organizations and government entities to facilitate understanding of future industry drivers.

 

Required Skills and Abilities:

Strong network of contacts and relationships with renewable energy developers, independent power producers, asset owners, corporate off-takers, project financiers, major equipment manufacturers.

Proven expertise and a strong sales record in the renewable market with the ability to identify new business and penetrate key clients in the renewables market.

Knowledge in preparation of capture plans, strategic and win plans in the pursuit of projects.

Strong understanding of the renewable market and project delivery requirements in support of project implementation.

Experience in the structuring and negotiations of execution contracts.

Strong knowledge of risk identification and management in the renewable industry.

Must have knowledge of and relationships with key decision-makers and purchasers of services in the renewable energy industry.

Strong commercial knowledge regarding terms and conditions associated with utility and Independent Power Producer (IPP) contracts.

Well-developed understanding of marketing, business development and targeted sales strategies in the renewables business.

Demonstrated ability to plan and organize resources.

Must be comfortable managing the sales process at various stages of development.

Experience in management, supervision, and personnel administration functions, including selection and training of personnel.

Must be willing to travel as required. 

 

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field.

10+ years of sales and marketing experience.

7-10 years of experience in renewable energy (Wind, Solar and/or Battery Storage).

In-depth understanding of commercial utility policy, programs, and rate structure.

In-depth knowledge of Wind, solar or battery projects, development and financing.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

M.B.A.

Knowledge and prior experience with Energy Storage Systems.
