Retirement & Institutional Services (RIS) Director of Client Service is a senior leader responsible for the successful execution of client service, administration, risk management/compliance activities and supervision and direction of trust activities for the Institutional Investment Management (IIM) institutional custody and trust clients. This includes direct leadership and oversight for the team of Managers, Client Managers, Account Managers and/or Account Specialists teams.

Develop, execute and grow the Institutional Custody business for the Retirement & Institutional Services (RIS) team, to include establishing short term (1 year) and long term (3 year) strategies to meet and exceed Truist financial goals and grow each business in existing and new markets.  

Client Service/Client Experience:

  • Lead the Institutional Custody team. This will include direct leadership and talent management responsibilities for the team of RIS Managers of Client Service as well as indirect leadership of the Client Managers and Account Managers/Specialists teams.
  • Lead the client-facing administrative teams to ensure the delivery of best in class client service and administration to our Institutional Custody relationships.
  • Serve as a Senior Client Manager on select large/high profile/complex client relationships where necessary.

Sales/Financial:

  • Working closely with the RIS Managers of Client Service, this position will assist in leading the Client Manager team in the cultivation of existing and new relationships. As needed and appropriate, participate in new business process and presentations.
  • Serve as Senior Leader responsible for the oversight of the new business acceptance and approval process. This will include pricing decisions, quality control measures as well as the selection of deal team and relationship team members in consultation with the RIS Managers of Client Service.
  • Work closely with Integrated Relationship Management partners in Wealth and across all LOBs in Truist to ensure that the product/service offering of the group meets the needs of all Truist clients.
  • Partner with Finance and Operations to identify and execute on opportunities to improve overall efficiency.
  • Assist in the establishment of defined and measurable goals for RIS.

Talent Management/One Team:

  • Actively participate and contribute to the RIS Leadership Team on key projects and initiatives.
  • Attract, identify, hire and develop RIS leaders and teammates, and coach and guide teammates to grow within their role and career.
  • Deliver our purpose by building a strong culture within RIS.

Risk Management:

  • Lead the RIS Institutional Custody risk management and compliance process to ensure that our relationships are proactively managed with a focus on ensuring that all are compliant with relationship and account level documentation that meets or exceeds the Bank policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that the RIS group establishes and maintains appropriate legal, operating and regulatory controls to manage risk and compliance. Work closely with internal partners in risk, legal, compliance and audit to ensure the compliance and operational risk parameters are met.
  • Lead a culture of continuous improvement and operational executional excellence.

1. Bachelor\'s Degree

2. 15 years or more of Institutional experience

3. Experience dealing with sophisticated/large/complex clients and leadership

4. Strong communication skills (written and verbal) and excellent presentation and interpersonal skills.

5. P&L and Cost Center Management experience as well as knowledge of trust administration, trust accounting systems and investments.

6. Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills, including well-defined financial analysis capability 

7. Ability to delegate effectively while maintaining accountability for appropriate completion of deliverable

8. Effective time and personal management

9. Strong understanding of Retirement trends, as well as an understanding of the legal and regulatory framework in which Truist operates

Preferred Qualifications:

1. MBA or JD 

2. Experience with and in-depth knowledge of trust and institutional services
