We are currently seeking an ambitious individual to join our global team as a Manager – Fraud Analytics, working together with colleagues to define, manage and achieve divisional business targets. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with leading edge technology and deploy across the Globe.

Fraud analytics is responsible for the engineering, industrialisation and delivery of analytical products to help mitigate fraud risk across Wealth and Personal Banking (WPB) portfolios in all the countries HSBC operates in. Working across multiple fraud risk vectors our work helps to keep our customers and the communities we operate in safe from fraud risk.

The Manager – Fraud Analytics is responsible for delivering the banks fraud mitigation strategy through the deployment of rules, scenarios and models across the various external fraud typologies under management within WPB. The role will especially focus on transaction fraud both in the cards and non-cards domains. With WPB’s increased focus on digital, this role assumes greater importance given the underlying fraud risks with digital platforms.

As an analyst you will work closely with stakeholders and other functions within WPB and Fraud to develop innovative and actionable models which help to manage fraud risk. The solutions we deliver need to manage risk effectively, be commercially focused, scalable across our many markets and lines of business and stand up to the rigors of internal and external scrutiny and review.

In this role, you will:

• Support the development and deployment of models and analytical products to manage and mitigate financial crime risk
• Develop new analytical practices in partnership with other Research & Analytics functions.
• Manage model risk through the application of controls and standards
• Interpret and manipulate large data set to extract trends and identify issues and risk
• Build trust and credibility with stakeholders in order to objectively engage them and where appropriate challenge their views.
• Partner with internal and external vendors and agencies

 

Requirements

To be successful in the role, you should meet the following requirements:

• Domain experience in fraud risk is essential – specialization in payment fraud / scams is an added advantage
• Proven experience of translating complex data and analytical output into visual stories
• Advanced analytical techniques e.g. regression analysis, predictive analysis, data mining, machine learning Experience of one or more of the following: SAS and Python / R
• Strong analytical thought process and aptitude for creative problem solving.
• Agile methodologies
• Agile methodologies, lean, devOps

Location: Hybrid - travel to Birmingham, Sheffiled or London fortnighly
