Come have a seat at our table.Meaningful Work From Day One We are looking to hire a motivated and experienced in-house counsel with a minimum of 5 years relevant professional experience to be part of our Europe Legal Team for an interesting and fast-paced role, supporting several markets in Europe including France, Belgium, Luxembourg and Iberia (“Clusterâ€)
Your responsibilities will focus primarily on our sales and operations in the Cluster
We will value your experience and legal expertise in â— commercial matters including retail/supplier relationships and distribution, â— competition law, â— corporate law, and â— data protection matters
You will be supporting the Regional Counsel Europe, based in Germany, and can be based in one of our office locations in Paris, France or Brussels, Belgium
Partial remote working is possible
What you will do as a legal counsel at Brown-Forman: â—Commercial Support
Negotiate, review, analyze and/or draft commercial contracts with customers and vendors in the Cluster
Assist with the contract administration (including renewal tracking), management and filing. â—Corporate Maintenance
Corporate maintenance of our companies throughout the Cluster in close collaboration with the finance and tax departments
Drafting and tracking various intercompany agreements and arrangements. â—Privacy
Instilling a culture of privacy internally, including engaging with and motivating diverse stakeholders at all levels
Assist with the setting-up of privacy processes within the Cluster, drive their execution, coordinate the embedding of data privacy into the relevant operations across their entities and ensure that these entities have complete and up-to-date records necessary to demonstrate consistency with the GDPR. â—Compliance
Contribute to existing strong compliance culture by providing compliance-related training with respect to, among others, competition law, anti-bribery and privacy and implementing compliance-related policies, processes, procedures and controls. â—Managing Outside Counsel
Supporting the process of engaging and managing outside counsel in the Cluster. â—General Legal Support and other responsibilities
Advise, provide guidance, and develop policies and processes on a broad range of commercial, competition, privacy, regulatory and legal compliance matters
Provide day-to-day commercial legal support, business focused advice, and counsel to the sales and procurement organization
Effectively communicate legal concepts to stakeholders in collaboration with and with support from other members of the legal team
Support the continuous improvement of standard 1 agreements, policies and processes
Legal operations development and project management
Anticipate changes to, and advise on, relevant laws impacting our activities and customers. â—Other legal tasks as needed. â—Travel: this role will require traveling (15-25%) What you will need to succeed: â—You are a lawyer or in-house counsel (Master or equivalent, preferably acquired in France) with a minimum of 5 years relevant legal experience for this position, gained in-house and/or in leading law firms, preferably in a multinational environment
FMCG experience would be an asset. â— You are fluent in French and English (written and spoken)
Additional language: Spanish would be a plus. - You are a self-starter, have a hands-on mentality and bring great interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with your colleagues and stakeholders. â— You have the ability to perform independently as well as cross-functionally and demonstrate flexibly in a collaborative, dynamic team environment; you know how to prioritize and drive multiple initiatives to conclusion independently and in a timely manner. â— You are able to perform your work with accuracy and attention to detail. â— You demonstrate a keen interest in understanding the business, its strategic and financial goals, its ways of operations and its compliance and other risks, in order to be an effective business partner and risk manager
You have an analytical mind and business minded approach to legal issues. â— You possess strong persuasion, negotiation and collaboration skills, excellent communication (oral and written) and presentation skills with the ability to clearly relay complex information and give pragmatic direction and guidance
