About the Role

Lockheed Martin UK Ampthill have an exciting opportunity to join the business in a key position as the Lead for the International Trade Compliance Team. Working with a small close knit team, this role will be empowered to make a difference in the business, whilst working within one of the top 10 global defence companies helping to deliver critical programmes of national importance. In this role you will be responsible for:

Planing and coordinating import/export activities, including the flow of traffic to/from foreign destinations, related customer service, brokerage and customs transactions.

Maintaining compliance with UK and foreign regulations governing the shipment, receipt and documentation of imported/exported products.

Researching and resolving customer or supplier issues. Interfacing with internal and external worldwide import/export operations and organisations.

Negotiating with foreign customers and suppliers to develop handling agreements. Acting as liaison with U.K. customs representatives to resolve problems.

Establishing requirements for licences for the export or import of military and dual use equipment and generating licence applications where necessary. 

Ensuring exports do not take place without the necessary licences and export formalities and paperwork in place. 

Establishing, maintaining and controlling relations with appropriate government licensing authorities to ensure that the company's position on licensing and technology release is conveyed, understood and accepted/approved.

Maintaining accurate auditable records (supported by a colleague who manages the records) of all export/import activities sufficient to meet government requirements 

Ensuring compliance with customs formalities to ensure smooth flow of goods, ensuring correct tariff application and payment of duties and maintaining AEO status.

Required skills, qualifications and experience

Ability and aptitude to perform the following tasks. Experience in performing these tasks and/or related training and qualifications preferred but in the absence of this, experience of similar regulatory compliance and a willingness and ability to learn with the correct aptitude will be considered

Applying for and maintaining UK Export/ Import licences including OGELs, OIELS, and SIELS.

Interface with UK authorities on licence applications/queries. (HMRC/ECJU)

Understanding and ensuring compliance with UK Export Legislation.

Working with Business Development to ensure F680 and Exhibition clearances are in place to meet business requirements.

Maintain suitable procedures and records to demonstrate control of exports to meet ECJU, HMRC and/or Corporate audits and other company standards.

Play a key role in any ECJU/HMRC/MoD audits and compliance visits, ensuring adequate preparation, training and communication within the company.

Local compliance with US International Traffic & Arms regulations (ITAR), Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and Dual Use regulations.

Maintenance and coordination of US Authorisations including Technical Assistance Agreements, Manufacturing Licence Agreements, US Licences and exemptions.

Liaise with purchasing, engineering, projects, commercial and other functions to ensure compliance to and an understanding of US ITAR, EAR and End Use requirements and other US requirements.

Assist in developing processes and controls to ensure compliance is maintained throughout the business.

Provide training, guidance and expertise to others in maintaining export compliance standards.

Advise and communicate with various dept on export issues from the earliest commercial stage through the project lifecycle.

Planning and arranging of import/export shipments, customs clearance and interfacing with Couriers, Freight Forwarders and other cargo handlers.

We are looking for a talented and experienced trade compliance (import/export) professional to join the company. Please note that Lockheed Martin Ampthill works a 9 day fortnight with the site closed every second Friday and is currently trialling a 4 day week for those who wish to work longer days Monday to Thursday and not work on either Friday.
