Job Description
PRB is seeking a local consultant to support a virtual research-to-action (R2A) workshop for a team at ADARA Research and Management Consultancy (ARMC) that is addressing issues of teacher wellbeing and social emotional learning in Liberia*.
The local consultant will support training and serve as a key resource in supporting the research team in stakeholder interviews.
- The project is under the Research Technical Assistance Center (RTAC), a strategic resource to USAID that leverages the scientific expertise of academic researchers to provide research, specialized training, and short-term technical assistance.
- The research expands the evidence base around the context-specific measurement of children’s social emotional learning (SEL) skills and teacher wellbeing in Liberia, specifically by providing an in-depth understanding of how children’s SEL skills and teachers’ wellbeing are conceptualized.
- The goal of this research is to develop a brief, non-technical guidance document that outlines how other partners and stakeholders in Education in Crisis and Conflict (EiCC) can undertake a similar measure development process for children’s SEL and/or teachers’ wellbeing.
- The research will provide the Ministry of Education and development partners with the evidence on strengthening systems for teachers’ motivation, and compensation and wellbeing.
- The government is considering the revision of the pay-grade scheme of the education workforce, and the evidence will contribute to said revision.
- The evidence on SEL will also provide the needed data to support implementation of the Early Learning and Development Standards (ELDS) and provide private and faith- based education secretariats the needed information to ensure SEL is integrated in the teaching and learning practices at the primary school level.
