Our schools offer a robust selection of Scholar Talent courses that may include Performing Arts, Visual Arts, Debate, Chess, and Athletics, where the curriculum, programming, and development of our Scholar Talent teachers is created and managed by our Experiential Learning Team.
Basketball is a critical part of our curriculum beginning in middle school and continuing through high school. We believe that learning and playing basketball sharpens scholars' analytical skills and competitive instincts while encouraging scholars to think strategically and have fun! Success has basketball teams at a variety of competitive levels, from recreational to highly competitive, who compete in state, regional, and national tournaments.
Reporting to the Program Manager, Basketball, the Associate, Basketball will work with our basketball coaches to operationalize and scale our Basketball program across the Middle Schools and High Schools. (Supports development of high quality programming both internally and externally. Ensures consistent, high-quality implementation of policies, best practices across all network team components.)
In this role you will:
Support the design of a comprehensive 5-12 basketball program inclusive of the in-school curriculum, teacher professional development for our basketball coaches, competitive programming, and scholar development. The design takes into account future and rapid growth of our schools and scholar participation.
Support operationalization of the design through the the provision of administrative and logistical of the following: â—‹
Development, training, and communication of the Middle School and High School basketball curriculum;
Development of our coaching staff to ensure that they are providing exceptional coaching;
Development and management of a system for player evaluation and talent identification;
Budget and identification of strategic third party relationships needed to support the program, particularly as we continue to increase in size;
Working with the Network Experiential Learning Program Logistics team to execute roll-out and management of all clubs and teams and associated programming logistics including competitions, budget, and communication
Travel to local and national competitions that enable SA basketball players to practice what they have learned in a competitive environment.
Help lead the SA basketball program through developing, modeling, and holding our SA basketball coaches accountable to a strong basketball culture aligned to our SA mission and vision of excellence and alignment with our overall Athletic vision.
Work with school and network leadership to energize our SA basketball community, with active participation from our SA families, school staff, and network staff.
Work with Human Resources and existing basketball coaches to build and leverage external networks to identify talent.
Support expansion of program facilities and partner with operations to enhance space options for programming.
Oversee internal and external network programming inclusive of schedule management, communications, external club partnerships and travel coordination.
Create sustainable and measurable work streams that enable the evaluation of network program quality, coach effectiveness and player impact.
Allocate and project manage the execution of network basketball program administrative deliverables.
Identify, create and execute internal professional development events to enhance quality of coach performance and alignment of work flow.
Collaborate with coaches and manage individualized player development plans in conjunction with the Program Manager, basketball.
Create and manage summer camps for developing players and identify exceptional summer programs for competitive players.
Develop and build external relationships and partnerships with organizations that can help scale and enhance program experience and sustainability.
Design coach training in partnership with Ed Institute. (Inclusive of summer T School)
