Our members believe that communication leads to better support and understanding of our schools. MSPRA is affiliated with a national organization with the same goals and beliefs, the National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA).
MSPRA was founded in 1958-59 by John Marrs, Ned Hubbell, Vern Schipper and Otis Crosby. There were six other charter members in the first year. It has grown to nearly 200 members in its short history. It is one of the largest state chapters of NSPRA, boasts a number of accredited (APR) members and is celebrating its 60th Anniversary.
MSPRA provides a framework in which people who direct communications and public relations programs can:
Exchange ideas and strategies with specialists from other school districts.
Share resources through a national network.
Attend conferences and workshops designed to enhance skills in personal and organizational communication.
Obtain help in meeting special communication needs.
