Job Summary:

Welders perform tasks that are necessary to the production process. Their main objective is to perform welding operations such as conduct various hand-weld and soldering; flame cutting or brazing. To join metal components or to fill holes, indentations, seams of fabricated metal products. They also aid in blade layout, operation of press brake, spot welding.  Successful candidates with strong attention to detail and the ability to closely follow instructions from engineering department.

• None

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Reading and interpreting engineering blueprints
• Constructing base templates if necessary
• Measuring and marking out cutting and bending lines
• Setting up metalwork machinery including cold saw, drill presses, band saw, brakes, tape measure and/or calipers
• Double-checking design specifications before commencing with cutting work
• Fabricating and constructing metal components
• Grinding and finishing completed products
• Performing quality checks on completed products
• Conforming with state and company safety regulations
• Completing job reports
• All other duties as assigned

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Proven experience as a Welder
• Experience using a variety of welding equipment and procedures
• Knowledge of relative safety standards and the use of PPE (welding helmet, face-shield, gloves etc.)
• A steady hand and great attention to detail
• Ability to read and interpret engineering blueprints
• Proficiency with metal fabrication tools including cold saw, tape measure, band saw, general power tools and drill presses
• Good understanding of quality control principles
• Good communication skills
• Excellent hand-eye coordination and physical condition
• Ability to lift and manipulate large metal pieces
• Ability to stand for long periods
• Ability to work in a Non-A/C environment

Education and Experience:

• At least two-year related experience required as a Welder
• AWS certification preferred
• High School diploma or equivalent preferred

Physical Requirements/Work Environment:

• While performing duties of the job, incumbent is required to stand for full shift; walk; sit; use hand to finger handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear
• Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up 75 pounds
• Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
• Non-A/C work area; the noise level can periodically be higher than normal, hearing protection may be required
