Briggs & Stratton / Billy Goat, located in Lee's Summit, Missouri, is a leading and innovative manufacturer of outdoor power equipment. We specialize in the design and manufacture of machines in three product groups: Debris Management (vacuums, blowers, and debris loaders), Lawn Renovation, and Brush Cutters. We have an immediate opening for a full time Welder to support our operations.

Work Hours: 5 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., Monday – Thursday. Overtime is required at various times during the year, usually on a Friday.  Must be able to pass a background check and drug screen.

Position Description

Welds metal components together with robot gas welding equipment to fabricate metal parts for Billy Goat machinery by performing the following duties.

 

Job Responsibilities

• Operates robot weld machine to weld metal parts together.  May also perform the duties of a MIG Welder.  Advanced duties include programming of the robot, maintenance and fixture recommendations.
• Positions and clamps together components of fabricated metal products using various weld fixtures.
• Evaluates and inspects finished parts for quality and accuracy.  Makes fixture changes when necessary.
• Performs related tasks such as drilling, roll forming, plasma cutting and grinding.
• Repairs broken or cracked parts, fills holes, and increases size of metal parts.
• Completes all work to required print specifications and quality standards.
• Maintains work area according to 5S standards and completes all required paperwork correctly.

Job Skills Requirements

• Basic reading, writing and math skills. Working knowledge of  blueprint reading preferred.
• Fluent in English and primary language used in area of responsibility and/or location

Education

High School diploma

1 year of related experience

Physical & Environmental Requirements

Moderate physical demand; often lifting/moving average weight (25 to 50 lbs/11-27 kgs), and occasionally lifting heavy weight materials (up to 70 lbs)

Ability to stand and/or walk constantly over a full work shift (8-12 hours)

Ability to perform occasional to frequent pushing, pulling, bending, kneeling, twisting, crawling and/or reaching over a full work shift (8-12 hours)

Somewhat disagreeable or hazardous conditions.
