Web Delivery Lead - Digital Business Banking

Our technology teams in the UK work closely with HSBC’s global businesses to help design and build digital services that allow our millions of customers around the world, to bank quickly, simply and securely. We also run and manage our IT infrastructure, data centres and core banking systems that power the world’s leading international bank.

Our multi-disciplined teams include: DevOps engineers, IT architects, front and back end developers, infrastructure specialists, cyber experts, as well as project and programme managers.

 

We work in small, agile DevOps teams with colleagues around the world.

 

Following extensive investment across our Technology and Digital domains, we are currently seeking a number of experienced Web Delivery Lead to join HSBC Technology.

Wholesale Technology sits within Digital Business Services (DBS). Our team provides the technology solu-tions that enable the business to operate and service customers. From cutting edge relationship management platforms built using Agile/DevOps to industrial strength engines that power global online websites and trade platforms, our highly engaged and talented team can do it all.

 

WSIT Digital Channels is a major Service Line within WSIT Technology, responsible for the technology channels to Commercial & Global Banking clients (‘HSBCNet’) & its underling payments / transactions engine (‘Connect’) as well as the internet & mobile platforms for Small to Medium Enterprises (‘Business Banking’).

 

In 2021, Group Management Board approved c.2.6bn USD transformation budget for Wholesalte, of which about 2bn is in technology and data. Wholesale Technology, as a result, has embarked upon significant period of growth and innovation. The commercial bank is reengineering how it interacts with its customers with technology at the heart of this transformation.  We will replace all the major platforms for Wholesale (and for Global Banking GLCM / GTRF business) to compete with the industry best, and tech giants, utilizing the latest cutting edge technology and solutions, including Cloud, API, Data Analytics, and best of breed trans-action banking services.

Digital Business Banking (DBB) is the next generation digital banking platform serving 650 thousand of HSBC’s UK SME customers.  

DBB is the culmination of multi-year major transformation programme to fully replace and re-platform HSBC UK’s legacy business banking web and mobile services, using the latest technologies and DevOps practices to deliver a user-centric, 24*7*365, full service offering.

The change agenda is driven by the completion of the core transformation roadmap, migration of customers to the new platform and increasingly, key regulatory commitments in the Open Banking and PSD2 arena.

 

What you will be doing;

 

  • Reporting to the Head of Web Channel, lead and deliver a large portfolio of projects to deliver change to UK Business Banking Customers.
  • Manage an organisation of 120 engineers, designers and programme managers.  Hire and expand in response to demand, build relationships with vendors and suppliers.
  • Build relationships with business stakeholders to negotiate and agree requirements and solutions, prioritising benefit to customers.
  • Ensure that work carried out by the products is in alignment with HSBC Group change methodologies.
  • Manage, monitor and report progress, issues, dependencies, risks to Programme Manager and/or steering committees and make recommendations to influence decision-making in order to maintain progress towards delivery and benefits realisation.

Requirements

What you will bring to the role; 

 

To be successful in this role you should have proven experience within the Technology sector with knowledge of the following skills:

 

  • Extensive experience in leading transformation of $20m or more on a digital platform. 
  • Demonstrable experience of managing large scale, high profile programmes within Banking or Financial Services.
  • Demonstrable experience and knowledge of agile, including use of tooling, ceremonies and deployment at scale.
  • Knowledge of common digital technologies and patterns; React, Javascript, Backend for Frontend, APIs.
  • Experience in strategy and planning for large technology programmes.
  • Experience of multi-vendor. Multi-geography environments.
  • Strong references of stakeholder relationship management and influencing skills, demonstrating success in facilitating collaboration, influencing, communicating and negotiating at all levels

 

The base location for this position is Canary Wharf, London
