Job Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following; other duties may be assigned:

  • Reading of cooling tower meter, boiler gas meter, and boiler make up water meter
  • Boiler Blow water softener checks and blowdown and testing LWCO
  • Data entry of waste water testing reports into WWSS and city water report as required by our WW permit. 
  • Process water softener, check salt bin and fill as needed, test water for hardness, check control and flow meter for proper operation.     
  • Check air compressors and dryers to the control panels for operation, check air receiver, filters and tank drains for operation
  • Test tower water hardness and check filter system operation and check chemistry of cooling tower water
  • Gather samples from WW plant, send to testing lab, adjust chemical treatment to need. 
  •  Test samples for PH, COD, and other testing media.
  • Preventative maintenance of lift station and system pumps.
  •  Monthly, Quarterly, and yearly preventative maintenance of air compressors, dryers, cooling towers, and associated support equipment.
  • Quarterly and monthly inspections to maintain Environmental SWPP and SPCCP for Centralia site.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

  • High School Diploma
  • Class K wastewater License or other wastewater license

Experience:

  • Minimum of 2  years of Industrial Wastewater Treatment
  • Minimum of 2 years utilities experience
  • Professional experience in a manufacturing environment or food products industry, preferred.
  • Experience with continuous improvement methodologies such as 6S, Root Cause Analysis and the Plan Do Check Act model preferred.
  • Experience working with a diverse group of people.

Skills and Proficiencies:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Power Point and Excel.
  • Ability to use innovative approaches to resolve complex problems.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to react to situations with a strong sense of urgency.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff, co-workers, and your team verbally and in writing as well as by being an active listener. 
  • Solid problem solving, project management, multi-tasking and prioritization skills.
  • Detail oriented, organized, reliable and resourceful.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team environment.

LIFTING REQUIREMENTS:  Ability to lift 50 pounds.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Work will occur both inside the building and outside of the building.  Often the operator will be working independently but will have access to others for shared work.
