Description:

As part of the WW HEOR organization:

  • Leads a diverse scientific- and commercially-oriented US HEOR team of approximately 65 staff, including home office and field based HEOR teams.
  • Leads the US HEOR team in evidence generation and communication in support of market access and the appropriate use of BMS medicines across the entire portfolio, including new and late-stage assets.
  • Directs all research and development activities used to develop any internal, unpartnered programs in alignment with the BMS strategy.
  • Works with the VAP/HEOR leadership team to review project budgets and resources to ensure they are in line with objectives. Oversees the approved budget for all research and development activities.
  • Represents the company at scientific and industry meetings and describes the company's scientific value demonstration capabilities to internal and external stakeholders including partners, collaborators, regulatory, medical and payor agencies.
  • Takes the lead in developing strategy for new capability areas, and potential implementation, in BMS as a core member of project teams or steering committees formed for these purposes.
  • Builds trust and strong relationships with key partners and stakeholders across BMS.
  • Coordinates and facilitates contracting of new external partners for WW HEOR department through regular, timely communication with legal, risk management, ethics and compliance groups.
  • Institutes new scientific and commercial processes and technologies that promote efficiency and effectiveness of VAP/HEOR.
  • Remains current on industry trends and advises organization regarding scientific matters.
  • Leads BMS' engagement with US healthcare quality and performance measurement, healthcare reforms, and encompassing the federally-funded comparative effectiveness research endeavor and other federal and state policy initiatives.
  • Collaborates across the Marketing, Access and Medical functions to align on HEOR plans to support access.
  • Ensures insights and guidance on the US healthcare and access environment are embedded in the R&D development plans for pipeline assets.
  • Works with US Medical and VAP Teams to create a culture that embraces collaboration, innovation, and scientific excellence with a focus on creating new capabilities to meet the needs of the evolving healthcare landscape, data generation and communication, collaboration with R&D and commercial to ensure successful commercialization and access, and talent development.
  • Member of the WW HEOR, US Medical and US Value, Access and Payment (VAP) leadership teams.
  • Partners with the US VAP organization to ensure development of an access capability and access to BMS medicines.

Qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree (PhD preferred) in a life science quantitative discipline, e.g., economics, epidemiology, health policy.
  • At least 15 years of experience in pharmaceutical industry with at least 5 years' experience as head of a leading HEOR technical function or sub-function.
  • Proven ability to create a HEOR vision that engages the wider US Medical, Access and Commercial community, and drives successful execution of organizational and product-level strategies sensitive to the dynamic US healthcare system and external influences on access to and the safe, appropriate use of BMS medicines.
  • Significant drug development experience and track record of success leading multiple programs from early to late-stage clinical development, and through launch.
  • Evinced ability to innovate in HEOR methodologies, and to anticipate and instigate technological and scientific trends in value demonstration.
  • Ability to build a high performing team by establishing high standards, objectively assessing talent from both the organization as well as externally, and selecting individuals in an unbiased manner who meets the standards established for the organization.
  • Ability to work effectively in a matrix environment that includes interactions with multiple stakeholder groups including both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Significant drug development experience and track record of success leading multiple programs from early to late-stage clinical development, and through launch.
  • Evinced ability to innovate in HEOR methodologies, and to anticipate and instigate technological and scientific trends in value demonstration.
  • Experience with development areas such as cell therapy, immuno-oncology and genetic regulation.
  • Demonstrated management of diverse internal and external stakeholders.
  • Self-motivation with a proactive and innovative mindset.
  • Strong interpersonal influence and active listening skills, flexible team player with the highest ethical and business standards.
  • Ability to manage large-scale program budgets.
  • Ability to organize and simply communicate complex data effectively.
  • Proven experience and publication record that demonstrates a wealth and breadth of expertise across multiple healthcare systems (ideally US and ex-US), healthcare delivery
