The Role

Fidelity Investments is seeking a Group Squad Lead (GSL) – Product Owner for the Personal Investing Customer Analytical Data Platform.

The incumbent will provide vision, create strategy and develop partnerships across an integrated set of squads aimed to deliver timely products and value to the end customer!

The GSL manages an integrated roadmap for product development across the aligned squads, partnering with other leaders to align product area level strategic priorities, planning, and curating a shared backlog and ensuring clear prioritization and communication to the Squad group and members for successful execution.

As manager of the aligned Squad Leaders, the GSL provides group leadership, individual coaching, and development to enable the effectiveness of the Squad Leaders and broader squads.

Analytical Data Platforms

Sets overall Analytical Data Platform purpose and vision for the squad and squad group, providing integral thought leadership across squads on key points of integration, backlog trade-off and alignment in collaboration with the Product Area leaders to ensure alignment on overall strategy.

Partners as a “powerful pair” with Group Chapter Leaders in the Triad of Product Management, Engineering & Human-Centric Design to align on strategic decisions, solution development and work priorities, ensuring the best-in-class engineering disciplines are at the core of Personal Investments (PI) Product solutions.

Serves as the end-to-end owner of the mission, strategy, product life cycle and value creation of the squad group and works with the Squad Leaders to prioritize work with responsibility for the integrated platform roadmap

Empowers squad members and squad leaders in squad group to implement and achieve business results and client value.

Supports aligned squads as they bring value delivered through prioritization, creativity, innovation, collaboration, and decision making

Responsible for scrum events and representing the voice of the client in all squad activities. Ensures alignment on the “what” and “when” work is to be performed through ongoing planning and prioritization of a product backlog.

Partners with chapter and product area leaders to support squad talent needs, defining skill gaps, and building learning opportunities to achieve the strategic direction of the domain and product areas.

Makes decisions based on anticipated future trends, issues, and business drivers. Manages many dependencies and must align many business partners.

Navigates and guides squads within squad group through high degree of organizational complexity in support of cross-domain and cross-squad work.

Teamwork and Advocacy

Provides leadership and support in the research and resolution of sophisticated problems, including definition, solution recommendation, testing, and communication with end-users, vendors and other management and staff leading to timely problem resolution.

Handles change with analytic and business teams as we migrate from on prem solutions to the cloud.

Advocates for adoption of governed data, semantic layers, and new BI tooling for analytics in the Enterprise Data Lake

Business Intelligence Strategy

Develops and maintains roadmap of current-state to future-state along with interim stages of readiness and use. Identify management reporting needs, tools, and deployment/end-user strategy. Lead data conversions, self-service reporting, dashboard and business intelligence initiatives. Measure current-state effectiveness and periodically review for adjustments to strategy.

Builds, communicates and maintains an analytics strategy that sets direction and delivers activities vital to develop business and member value from all information assets.

Researchs and evaluates third-party providers and solutions capable of improving Fidelity's data assets.

Business Intelligence Environment and Tools

Ensures that an appropriate technical environment is planned and implemented, supporting both current and future planned BI initiatives. Environments should meet or exceed high-availability and business continuity standards.

Collaborates within the information technology teams to ensure database infrastructure meets industry best practices in all environments and secure coding practices are in place to support enterprise BI delivery

Round out the analytical toolset beyond core BI with data wrangling, network/journey (graph), and use case-specific solutions.

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

Bachelor’s degree required; graduate degree preferred.

10+ years building & leading BI/analytic applications and tools.

Consistent track record of customer-focused engagement and collaboration across business units with a strategic approach and ability advocate for the adoption of tools and methods that improve the usability and value of data.

Experience with technology platforms such as AWS, Snowflake, Tableau, PowerBI, AtScale and Oracle Exadata.

Experience leading projects with new/emerging technology and/or products in the early strategy and design stage.

People management experience, including performance management, goal setting, coaching, development, and engagement.

Makes decisions that impact results with limited guidance and oversight and shift focus and/or direction to meet changing conditions.

Uses strong analytical and judgement skills to figure out direction and achievement of goals; keeps key business partners informed on progress.

Uses strong influencing and problem-solving skills to resolve competing product area/squad level strategic priorities.

Effective communicator and relationship manager with internal and external customers.

Advocates for the thousands of users on our analytic platform; passionate about their needs and constantly working to improve the breadth and quality of our analytic capabilities.

Partners with key business partners demonstrating your forward thinking to drive best-in-breed enterprise solutions that have incubated under your watch.

The Team

Lead a squad of data engineers, data analysts, and BI developers so you can partner with teams across the organization to transform and scale our capabilities, adopt best practices in data visualization, and architectural standards

Work within a product area focusing on Data and Advanced Analytics Platforms with peers specializing in data platforms, data acquisition, data governance, AI/ML, and analytical tooling.
