Job Description

Summary

The Volunteering and Community Manager is a new role within the Heart of Cornwall portfolio and will play a key role within the Leadership team. Operating across all areas of our four properties, Trelissick, Trerice, Glendurgan and North Helford, you’ll need to build relationships, be an experienced and effective coach, and a great people manager.

What it's like to work here

A welcoming garden set in an estate with stunning maritime views and lovely woodland walks

Trelissick is set on its own peninsula, with panoramic views over the Fal estuary. You can explore the meandering paths through the garden, leading to exotic plants and herbaceous borders bursting with colour. For those bringing four-legged friends, Trelissick offers woodland walks through dappled sunlight and across open parkland with views down the estuary to the town of Falmouth.

Trelissick has its own art gallery run by Cornwall Crafts Association and showcases a wide range of work from local Cornish artists. Crofters café offers a delicious range of light refreshments, hot lunches, afternoon cream teas and packed lunches for children, all using seasonal and local produce. There's a gift shop, second-hand bookshop and six of the best National Trust holiday cottages located around the Trelissick estate.

What you'll be doing

Your style of delivery and ability to influence will nurture the confidence and capability of our leaders and line managers as they develop their own volunteer management skills, ensuring we offer an outstanding volunteer experience across a diverse range of roles and departments/teams. You’ll be passionate about leading for Inclusion and Diversity and you’ll drive/champion our property ambition to make sure that everyone truly feels welcomed and able to get involved in our sites in their own way.

You will be a credible and enthusiastic ambassador for the National Trust within the Heart of Cornwall, developing relationships with new stakeholders and partners, whilst nurturing existing relationships.

As part of the Property Leadership team you’ll work a weekend rota (approx. one weekend in five) where you will be the Senior Lead responsible for making sure our visitors have a great day out, that we’re operating safely and everyone is welcomed.

This is a friendly, dynamic and passionate team to be a part of and a wonderful place to work.

Please see the role profile attached. More specifically across the, this role will:

  • be a key member of the Property Leadership Team, reporting into the General Manager.
  • lead for our Inclusion and Everyone Welcome ambition.
