Thought Leadership is an integrated function within Fidelity Asset Management Solutions (FAMS) designed to deliver thought provoking investment perspectives on key topics of interest to institutional investors. The team leverages the deep and diverse investment expertise across FAMS to provide our global client base with timely and relevant research insights and expertise on industry issues and themes that matter most to them. TL regularly creates a suite of written publications that position FAMS as a thought leader and a strategic partner to our external and internal business partners , enables FAMS to respond to industry and market developments in a timely and comprehensive manner, and contributes to the successful positioning of specific asset classes and investment strategies.

Objectives

For FAMS, the main objective of timely and impactful thought leadership is to influence intellectual debate on relevant industry trends and to achieve brand/market leadership in core asset classes. 

Identify and develop content for asset management’s thought leadership publications by collaborating across all of Fidelity Asset Management to harness the best thinking from the organization.  This includes a focus on materials that can be used to build and maintain client relationships, build brand recognition, educate client-facing teams  and provide a bridge to product discussions and asset gathering.  This role will include developing close working relationships with respective investment partners, identifying their areas of expertise to create and deliver thought leadership publications.

This role requires expansive investment knowledge that draws upon an understanding of a broad range of investment topics including macroeconomics, asset allocation, equities, fixed income, alternatives and cryptocurrency.  The role will involve developing and translating broad themes or market trends into more refined topics for channel distribution and market penetration. This will involve working with senior leaders, investment teams, marketing, and distribution to maximize the impact of written materials. 

Responsibilities

Serve as lead writer on complex, cross asset class thought leadership deliverables; requiring coordination of investment sponsors and subject matter experts across a spectrum of asset class functions

Collaborate effectively with investment subject matter experts to drive perspectives toward conclusions that are both analytically robust, timely, provocative and relevant for clients/marketplace

Assist with “soft content” product support deliverables, including coordination of activities and identification of TL ideas for use in video, client calls and at events.

Partner with Asset Management Marketing and Communications to develop the agenda, identify speakers, and leverage Thought Leadership ideas for executive-level speaking engagements

Serve as contributing member of TL team to ensure best practices in grammar, messaging, writing and style to increase overall quality of output

Manage multiple stakeholder relationships and balance competing priorities as well as broker internal relationships between channels, asset management, and marketing to achieve TL goals

Qualifications

Experience/Education

Minimum 10 years experience in the investment industry

Minimum 5 years experience in thought leadership space

Experience writing and editing white papers, investment commentary, articles, etc.

Experience managing an editorial process and resources

Demonstrated investment knowledge of macroeconomics, asset allocation, equities, fixed income, alternatives and cryptocurrency

Other

Highly effective and consistent written and verbal communication capabilities

Ability to collaborate and manage relationships with diverse groups and proactively drive conclusions

Ability to manage and supervise priorities, deadlines and steering work that may involve multiple contributors

Willingness to provide feedback to subject matter experts and collaborate on thought provoking topics

Actively contribute to the growth and importance of TL efforts within FAMS to establish credibility and brand recognition in the marketplace
