Vice President, Head of Lymphoma Development is a key strategic leader accountable for the development of the CLL and Lymphoma portions of the Hematology portfolio. This global leader will set the end-to-end disease strategy for these disease areas, in partnership with Research, Early Development and Commercialization and will lead a team of scientific-leaders to translate those strategies into efficient execution, all with the goal of maximizing the value of these medicines for patients.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Set the end to end disease strategy, in partnership with research and early development, and commercialization, spanning the full lifecycle
Oversees the Development Program Leads (DPL) who are responsible for setting the vision and strategy for one or more assets in the disease area. Lead the DPLs in translating those strategies into efficient and effective execution of integrated development plans, including proof of concept (POC) through Phase III and post-marketing studies
Accelerate the portfolio and reduce development timelines for most promising new assets, while optimizing the revenue and reach of currently marketed products
Lead all R&D business development activities for the portfolio, in partnership with the Business Development team
Grow and shape the professional and personal development of Development Program Leads to ensure the delivery of the portfolio and the health of Development and the matrixed organization
Provide strategic and technical leadership to build a world-class drug development team while enabling the balance between scientific excellence and operational effectiveness
Partner with the global drug development functions (including global regulatory & safety, R&D strategy and operations, and global development operations) and other functions (including research and early development, commercialization, and enterprise strategy) to shape and execute the strategy
Demonstrate inspirational leadership to engage, develop, and create an inclusive/diverse environment that drives innovation
Demonstrate superior enterprise-wide leadership and emotional maturity to shape the future of R&D
Requirements:
MD or PhD required
Extensive pharmaceutical or biotech experience including demonstrated strong investigative medicine skills and experience
Experience leading both early and late development organizations
Knowledge/expertise in CLL and Lymphoma knowledge/expertise highly preferred
Track record of translating organizational strategy into an effective long-term action plan
Ability to work effectively in a matrix environment that includes interactions with multiple stakeholder groups across the enterprise
