Job Description:

At Fidelity, we use data and analytics to optimize customer experiences and develop solutions that help our customers achieve their financial goals. To support that mission, we are looking for an accomplished Cloud Data Architect to define the next generation Cloud-based data platform that is optimized for cost and performance while providing elastic compute and storage to process, store, transfer, and protect data. In this role, you will understand the business needs, and constraints in the current on-premises data environment, and work with Business Units to specify the common scalable, resilient, Cloud-based architecture, standard methodologies and guidelines for data ecosystem. You will collaborate with Business Units and provide mentorship in implementing the Cloud data environment that meets their needs. The role can be based in Durham, NC, Merrimack, NH, Boston, MA, or Westlake, TX

The Team

At Fidelity Enterprise Technology Group, part of our mission is to help Business Units harness data to enable outstanding customer experience with a modern and standardized technology stack. As part of the Enterprise Data Architecture Center of Excellence (CoE), you will join other Enterprise data architects in defining comprehensive, modern Fidelity data architecture and strategy across Business Units to drive outstanding business results for the firm.

The Expertise You Have

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a technology related field (e.g., Engineering, Computer Science, etc.) required.

Demonstrated technology and personal leadership experience in architecting, crafting and successfully building highly scalable data solutions.

Cloud data services such as AWS RDS, AWS DynamoDB, Azure SQL, and Azure Cosmos DB.

Cloud storage services such as AWS S3 and Azure Storage Services.

Cloud compute services such as AWS EC2, AWS EMR, and Azure Virtual Machines.

Proven experience in relational (Oracle and PostgreSQL are desirable), NoSQL, and data warehouse technologies and in-memory databases.

Experience building scalable, performant data solutions (e.g., OLTP, master data management, and data warehouse) on-premises, in the public cloud (e.g., AWS), and hybrid cloud.

Expert ability to evaluate, prototype and recommend emerging Cloud data technologies and platforms from open source or vendors.

Enterprise scale expertise in data management standard methodologies such as data integration, data security, data warehousing, data analytics, metadata management and data quality.

Extensive knowledge with architecting modern data integration frameworks, highly scalable distributed systems using open source and emerging data architecture designs and patterns.

Expert capability to analyze cost and performance in a data solution or pattern and recommend improvement for optimization.

10+ years of data solution architecture, design and development delivery experience. 4+ years of Cloud data architecture and solutions.

Relevant certification in public cloud services (e.g., AWS Certified Database – Specialty and AWS Certified Data Analytics – Specialty) is highly desirable.

Solid experience in Agile methodologies (Scrum and Kanban).

Leadership skills to architect and design data infrastructure capabilities on-premises and in the cloud.

Ability to collaborate and partner with business domain leads, data scientists, product owners, Enterprise architects and other functional leads to deliver world class data solutions.

Expertise in Cloud data services ecosystem such as OLTP, ODS, streaming products, Data Lake, sophisticated analytics technologies, BI reporting and analytics.

Solid skills to encourage confidence, build executive presentations and guide strategic discussions with senior management.

Ability to understand and adapt to changing business priorities and technology advancements.

Willingness to partner effectively with technology business partners across the firm.

The Value You Deliver

Provide thought leadership for data architecture in the journey to the cloud.

Identify multiple options of building data solutions (e.g., OLTP and ODS) in the public or hybrid cloud. Compare them against a set of criteria (such as resiliency, performance and cost) and provide clear recommendations.

Develop Reference Architecture and roadmaps to build highly available, scalable, resilient and performant data platforms to process high volume, high velocity and wide variety of structured and unstructured data.

Work with Business Units in embracing the Enterprise cloud data architecture and strategy.

Collaborate with key partners to prototype and recommend accurate Cloud data solutions in embracing new technologies.

Provide technical expertise as requested by Business Units and members of the Enterprise Data Architecture CoE.
