Wear Referrals is a multi-disciplinary, specialist veterinary referral hospital in the North East of England, close to the historic university city of Durham, the thriving city of Newcastle and set between the north east coast and the Pennines. We have services in neurology, orthopaedics, soft tissue surgery, internal medicine, anaesthesia, oncology, diagnostic imaging and cardiology, as well as a busy out-of- hours emergency service and in-house physiotherapy and hydrotherapy teams.

With ongoing growth and success based on an outstanding reputation and a commitment to clinical excellence, Wear Referrals, part of Linnaeus Veterinary Limited, are looking to recruit an additional OOH Veterinary Surgeon to work with our growing team of specialists.

Our hospital facilities include a dedicated ICU staffed 24 hours a day, spacious well-designed wards with many walk-in kennels, in-house 1.5T Siemens Magnetom Essenza MRI, 16 slice Siemens Soma-tom Emotion helical CT, digital radiography, digital fluoroscopy,a Samsung RS85 ultra-sound system and Arthrex / Karl Storz laparoscopic and arthroscopic imaging systems. 

The successful applicant will join an established and growing team of diplomates and residency-trained surgeons and clinicians, with support from a large discipline-specific nursing team.  They will provide OOH cover for our referral in-patients, as well as supporting local PCP practices who use Wear Referrals to provide their out of hours cover. They will be part of a large, dedicated OOH team working with at least 5 OOH RVNs,
a student and a PCA each shift, with Intern backshift support over the weekends, and our referral surgeons and clinicians are on call in addition for both in-person and telephone support.

This role would suit an experienced primary care vet looking to gain experience in a large 24/7 referral hospital and exposure to a complex and varied caseload. An ECC Cert would be advantageous and we would fully support the successful candidate in undertaking a Certificate or further ECC studies.

our residency programmes. Our extensive clinical caseload provides an interesting variety of cases and supports ongoing clinical research that
