Traditional Independent Mixed Practice in Devon

A truly independent mixed practice on the edge of Dartmoor, hoping to find a new vet to grow our team. We pride ourselves on a pragmatic caring approach, and being part of our local community.

This new position create a team of 6 full time and 2 part time vets. You will work a genuine mixed and equally shared 1:6 rota. 

Farm work is mainly beef and sheep with a mix of commercial farms and small holders, with some equine work. We also provide a limited export service and work with a bull stud and semen collection centre.

Small animal work is performed mainly at our newly refurbished and extended premises in Bovey Tracey, which has all the usual toys, including direct digital radiography. We have a good relationship with local specialists for advice and support, and an experienced team. Our vets cover branch surgeries on an equal rota, and are encouraged to follow their own cases up where possible.

Working a 4.5-day week, we do our own, usually quiet, out of hours work. A 3-day weekend off after every weekend on call is given in addition to holiday. RCVS, BVA and VDS membership is paid and CPD is encouraged and funded.

A confident newly qualified vet, keen to take part in all aspects of mixed practice with the support of experienced colleagues, a direct mentor, and enrolment on a new graduate specific CPD program would be welcomed at our Vetsure approved graduate friendly practice.

We would also welcome a more experienced colleague who would be given the freedom and encouragement to develop their own interests.

Based on the edge of Dartmoor National Park, close to the beaches and with good transport links to Exeter and onwards.

Salary package will start at £32,000 for new graduates and is negotiable based on experience and skills for the right applicant.
