Wear Referrals is a multi-disciplinary, specialist veterinary referral hospital in the North East of England, close to the historic university city of Durham, the thriving city of Newcastle and set between the north east coast and the Pennines. We have services in neurology, orthopaedics, soft tissue surgery, internal medicine, anaesthesia, oncology, diagnostic imaging and cardiology, as well as a busy out-of- hours emergency service and in-house physiotherapy and hydrotherapy teams.
With ongoing growth and success based on an outstanding reputation and a commitment to clinical excellence, Wear Referrals, part of Linnaeus Veterinary Limited, are looking to recruit an additional part time Veteri-nary Surgeon to work in our busy ICU working a minimum of 30 hours a week, including mid-week and weekend shifts.
Our hospital facilities include a dedicated ICU staffed 24 hours a day, spacious well-designed wards with many walk-in kennels, in-house 1.5T Siemens Magnetom Essenza MRI, 16 slice Siemens Somatom Emotion helical CT, digital radiography, digital fluoroscopy,a Samsung RS85 ultrasound system and Arthrex / Karl Storz laparoscopic and arthroscopic imaging systems.
The successful applicant will join an established and growing team of diplomates and residency-trained surgeons and clinicians, with support from a large discipline-specific nursing team. They will provide ICU cover for our referral in-patients, triage emergency referrals, as well as supporting local primary care practices who use Wear Referrals to provide their emergency out of hours cover overnight and at over the weekends.
This role would suit an experienced primary care vet looking to gain experience in a large 24/7 referral hospital and exposure to a complex and varied caseload. An ECC Cert would be advantageous and we would fully support the successful candidate in undertaking a Certificate or further ECC studies.
