TITLE: VA /VE Manager
DUTIES: Manage and lead VA/VE (Value Analysis/Value Engineering) team members to engineer and optimize the product cost of Meritor NA truck and trailer components (technical cost reduction opportunities); Work closely with purchasing in order to drive savings equal to 1/3 of purchasing’s overall savings targets on an annual basis; Lead IGS/Kaizen events with internal cross functional teams and suppliers for optimal design of driveline, rear axle, front axle, trailer and wheel end products; Collaborate with the suppliers and lead IGS events for VA/VE Programs; use Six Sigma approach to product & process cost reduction; Manage programs and customer focused deadlines and reporting to the executive leadership; Supporting VAVE and Cost Optimization programs across global Meritor locations; among other duties.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Supply Chain Management and eight years of experience in the job offered or related. Experience must include: Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T); experience with VA/VE (cost reduction) methodologies using Six Sigma Approach; experience with using TCO model in validating business cases for projects commercialization and estimating capital expenditure needs; experience leading VA/VE development programs sometimes with global reach and to lead communication and drive synergies with Global teams; experience with Program management involving multi-functional teams and handling large portfolio of VAVE projects right from initiation level using standardized management tools in compliance with industry standards; experience managing a large portfolio of projects involving cost reduction initiatives identifies from the initiation level to Program Management hand off; experience with leading and organizing VA/VE workshops/Kaizen & Idea Generation events for cost reduction using Six Sigma and Lean tools; experience collaborating with a wide variety of functional areas such as sales, engineering, marketing, manufacturing, finance and operations to identify cost reduction and market opportunities; experience coordinating and leading statistical analysis like Regression(Linear Price Performance analysis) and data analytics to identify cost reduction opportunities; experience creating and managing a pipeline of VA/VE Savings programs and drive the team for on time movement of ideas from the draft stage to program hand off phase; and experience with management reporting on the status of VA/VE projects and the project financials. Domestic and international travel required as needed, up to 20%
