The Role
In this role, the Design Researcher will play a key part in supporting the strategy and development of new products and applying best practices for overall user experience, as well as user testing (quantitive and qualitative methodologies). This work will focus on internal innovation teams seeking to learn “intrapreneurial†skills and bring new ideas to life.

The Expertise and Skills You Bring
Rapid prototyping including: design mood boards, 2-D concept visualisations, storyboards, interactive page layouts, site grids, wireframes, interface demos, flow charts, and photo retouching and enhancements
Design thinking skills to support explorations of concepts developed by internal teams
Deep understanding of qualitative user research methodologies, including experience with remote respondent platforms such as UserTesting and UserZoom
Familiar with quantitative user research methodologies, such as surveys
Ability to translate research findings into actionable reports, and to build clips and highlight reels
Strong communication skills, so you can brief extended teams and handle deliverables according to relevance, schedule and budget
Collaborate with technology colleagues on design feasibility and consult in building proof of technologies and proof of concepts.
Partner with clients on business goals and building relevant deliverables such as business plans
Participate in brainstorming and other idea-generating team sessions
Maintain high quality on creative and presentation deliverables
Multi-task and work efficiently under pressure
Contribute to a design culture and to the FCAT Design team
Four year degree (degrees from design, architecture, communication, filmmaking or other arts programs a plus) or a mix of education and equivalent experience
Master’s degree in Emerging Media Studies, Anthropology, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Sociology or a related field is a plus
Knowledge of prototyping software such as Sketch, UXPin, Figma, InVision and InVision Studio, or Adobe XD etc. is required
Demonstrated experience with design and strong interactive/digital work
Experience in applied research and/or academic research is a plus
Experience bringing abstract concepts to life
Highly detail oriented
An obvious curiosity quotient
Strong interpersonal and empathy skills
Ability to transfer design skills to multiple channels
Solid working knowledge of the latest versions of design programs
Knowledge of After Effects, Photoshop and Illustrator is preferred; knowledge of HTML/dHTML and the other capabilities of Web browsers is a plus
