(This role would be a Hybrid role post pandemic)

As a User Interface Engineer you will develop cutting-edge web applications for desktop and mobile devices enabling access to Autotrader products and services.  In this exciting position, you will work hands-on with various web technologies such as React, Java, SOLR, Jest, Cypress, etc in an Agile development environment. You will work on a collaborative software development team in a fluid, fast-paced environment.  The User Interface Engineer will interact with development team members and business contacts and work on multiple concurrent development projects with minimal supervision.  This position will play a key role in developing the next generation of Autotrader functionality and capability.

RESPONSIBLITIES:

Create, develop, and maintain code base for multiple applications, complete with unit testing

Participate in problem-solving, requirements gathering, definition, and design of new or changing applications

Develop and maintain knowledge of multiple assigned applications, functional areas, technical skills and programming languages

Partner with team members to identify usability and technology issues, and make resolution recommendations

Demonstrate a high degree of technical skill by engineering dynamic web pages for high-volume, multi-tier, architecture-based applications

Perform peer code reviews and author technical specifications

Mentor less experienced team members on projects and work requests

Qualifications:

5+ years’ experience in relevant technologies

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent industry experience

Thorough knowledge and experience with user interface design patterns, visual design elements, web technologies, and development methodologies

Good knowledge of Object Oriented design and programming

Experience writing JavaScript unit tests

Experience writing/testing performant-based code using best practices

Experience with secure coding best practices and remediation

Excellent written and verbal skills to effectively communicate technical issues to technical, non-technical, and management groups

Exceptional customer service attitude and interpersonal skills

Strong analytical and problem solving skills

Demonstrated skill with the following:

HTML/XHTML, CSS, JavaScript/DOM Scripting, UI frameworks (React, Bootstrap, Angular, Node, etc.), JS Libraries (JQuery, Prototype , etc.), AJAX, JSON, XML, Server Side Scripting languages (JSP, PHP, ASP), SQL, IDE (Eclipse, NetBeans, IntelliJ, etc.), Code repositories (SVN, CVS, Git, etc.), Large-scale enterprise web application development

Desirable skills include:

Java 7, J2EE (EJB, JNDI, JSP, Servlets, RMI), JBoss,  Web Frameworks (JSF), A4J, Java Unit testing (TestNG, Mockito), PL/SQL /JDBC, Apache and Apache Tomcat web servers, Unix (RedHat), Agile Process Exposure (TDD/BDD)
