Underwriting directly helps our company achieve financial and strategic goals. As the financial professionals who identify and calculate risk, underwriters increase revenues, earnings, and membership while protecting the company from loss.

– Prepares and delivers routine new business quotes and existing business renewals or accountings—complexity of work increases as technical skills progress.
– Reviews work with mentor/manager and respond to requests for pricing and or accounting balance alternatives based on financial analysis, underwriting principles, and business strategy.
– Utilizes essential underwriting tools, systems, and reference materials to produce accurate quotes, renewals, or accounting.
– Applies underwriting guidelines and escalates underwriting exceptions/financial variances for their assigned cases to the appropriate level.
– Supervision assists sales personnel in explaining rate/fee and communicating underwriting policy.
– Produces timely and accurate customer-specific documents, deliverables.
– Conducts audits on premiums, fees, and claim wires to ensure all receivables are accurate and accounted for.
– Tracks customer allowances or MBE/WBE goals using compliance guidelines.
– Assists department with projects or participate in workgroups.

Required Qualifications
– Experience working with standard Microsoft Office products.
– Demonstrated success in a production-oriented environment, meeting or exceeding production targets.

Preferred Qualifications
– Experience related to insurance, rating, underwriting, and accounting concepts preferred.
– Demonstrated success in collaborating with others to meet/exceed expectations.
– Demonstrated success prioritizing work and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

Education
– High School/GED or equivalent experience
– Bachelor’s degree preferred
