Capita are looking for a transport planner to join our team in North Tyneside. Capita is a UK multidisciplinary consultancy, providing a broad range of professional services covering the design, engineering, construction, infrastructure and property markets. We cover the whole of the UK with 50 offices and 3700 staff.

To support the delivery of transportation projects across a variety of disciplines and for a range of both public and private sector clients.

As a Transport Planner, you will assist in traffic and transportation studies and the development of local, regional and national transport policies and strategies.

Job Description:

What you'll be doing:

• The promotion, development and expansion of Active Travel Routes
• The production of local, national and regional transport policy documents designed to support and facilitate improvements to the transportation network;
• The design and planning of public transport interchanges;
• The production of WebTAG/WelTAG assessments designed to evaluate the economic, social and environmental implications of major infrastructure projects;
• The development of Transport Assessments and Travel Plans to support planning applications;
• The delivery of major public consultation events; and
• The provision of master planning reports to support town center regeneration.

What we're looking for:

• BA/BSc/BEng in an appropriate field. e.g. geography, planning or engineering and ideally a transport related post-graduate qualification;
• desire to achieve chartered status with the CMIHT or equivalent;
• a good understanding of Transport Policy and Strategy;
• a working knowledge of Travel Plans and Transport Assessments;
• confidence in dealing with a range of people including clients, councilors, local groups and the general public;
• the ability to communicate complex ideas and issues clearly and accurately, often to a non-technical audience;
