We are currently seeking an ambitious individual to join our team as a Transformation Lead - Markets Treasury, IRRBB, working together with colleagues to define, manage and achieve divisional business targets.

Role Purpose

The GT Strategy, Execution and Control function is responsible for a significant book of work in the Treasury & Market Treasury function including strategic planning and delivery, effective governance, IT and innovations strategy, management of front to back and associated functions as well as conduct and control standards across our teams. The function plays a fundamental role in managing GT existing operations and in the success of the implementing the new Global Treasury target operating model.

The Transformation team is responsible for providing business leadership for all transformation topics for Global Treasury.

Working within the Global Treasury Strategy, Execution and Controls (SE&C) team, reporting to the Markets Treasury Transformation Lead, the role holder will support Markets Treasury transformation and change-related matters with a focus on Interest Rate Risk in the Banking Book (IRRBB), helping drive the business forward by providing day-to-day business leadership of transformation and change initiatives, harnessing support from Treasury, Markets and Finance colleagues for successful delivery.

In this role, you will:

  • Work with Markets Treasury and IRRBB management at various levels to support business input and oversight of transformation programmes delivering the optimised platform for IRBBB measurement, modelling and associated risk management and revenue generation.
  • Combine strong subject matter expertise in IRRBB topics together with good experience and understanding of structuring and driving change programmes to meet business objectives.
  • Work in collaboration with other key SE&C functions across CAO & CIM, Controls, Digital & Data and Regional COO and Business management teams in support of the overall Treasury business agenda and partnership on driving transformation at regional and site level.
  • Work closely with programme managers in Global Treasury, Finance Change, Markets Transformation, Technology and functional areas to ensure effective delivery across all Treasury-owned and dependent programmes.
  • Ensure effective Transformation programme management standards, including governance structures, processes, cost management and controls are in place and meet Group standards.
  • Oversee programme teams across permanent, contractor and consultancy headcount to achieve successful, well-managed transformation delivery.
  • Work in conjunction with the Global Treasury OpCo members in ensuring the business continues to operate to the highest levels of operational, governance and accountability standards via well-scoped and managed Transformation delivery. 
  • Ensure and promote sharing and adoption of best practice / lessons learned / continual improvement ethos. Support effective management of regulatory, liquidity, interest rate and funding risk whilst operating within a strict control environment / limit framework and in doing so, optimising profitability.

Requirements

To be successful in the role, you should meet the following requirements:

  • Degree level education preferably with a professional qualification and with substantial experience in a markets business or related industries either within HSBC or with a relevant market competitor.
  • Relevant product knowledge with emphasis on banking book products, with role-relevant qualifications, i.e. Accounting, Financial Analysis or similar.
  • Past experience with relevant IRRBB systems, i.e. SQL, QRM.
  • A broad understanding of financial budgets/ models, with experience of analysing data effectively for planning, forecasting and reporting.
  • Experience of managing change programmes via a business-led model, as part of a diversified portfolio.
  • Experience of working with functional areas (IT, Finance/PC, Risk, Operations, Compliance, Audit) in a business management or transformation role.
  • Good broader understanding of broader treasury operations and banking issues – Liquidity, funding and cash management, capital, transfer pricing would be helpful.
  • Proven experience and ability in resolving complex issue through leadership, influence and negotiation.
  • Excellent communication and inter-personal skills; strong track record in engaging, challenging and influencing business performance in a large global bank or the financial industry.
