We are currently seeking an ambitious individual to join our team as a Transformation Lead - Treasury Capital, working together with colleagues to define, manage and achieve divisional business targets.

Role Purpose

The GT Strategy, Execution and Control function is responsible for a significant book of work in the Treasury & Market Treasury function including strategic planning and delivery, effective governance, IT and innovations strategy, management of front to back and associated functions as well as conduct and control standards across our teams. The function plays a fundamental role in managing GT existing operations and in the success of the implementing the new Global Treasury target operating model.

The Transformation team is responsible for providing business leadership for all transformation topics for Global Treasury.

The Transformation lead will work within the Global Treasury Strategy, Execution and Controls (SE&C) team reporting functionally to the Global Treasury Head of Transformation.

In this role, you will:

  • Act as Business Lead for all Treasury Capital transformation and change related matters, helping drive the business forward by providing Treasury Capital leadership for transformation initiatives, harnessing support from Treasury, Markets and Finance colleagues for successful delivery.
  • Combine strong subject matter expertise in Capital Management topics together with good experience and understanding of structuring and driving change programmes to meet business objectives.  This will also require a strong relationship with strategic planning and stress testing teams to leverage capabilities and drive support for Capital Management initiatives.
  • Work with Treasury Capital Management at various levels to support business input and oversight of transformation programmes delivering the optimised platform for capital management and efficiency.
  • Work in collaboration with other key SE&C functions across CAO & CIM, Controls, Digital & Data and Regional COO and Business management teams in support of the overall Treasury business agenda and partnership on driving transformation at regional and site level.
  • Work closely with programme managers as required in Global Treasury, Finance Change, Markets Transformation, Technology and functional areas to ensure effective delivery across all Treasury-owned and dependent programmes.
  • Be responsible for ensuring effective Transformation programme management standards, including governance structures, processes, cost management and controls are in place and meet Group standards.
  • Partner with Digital and Data teams inside and outside Treasury to define Capital platform and innovation strategy with a view to the establishment and management of associated Transformation programmes.
  • Support the Global Treasury ExCo for the delivery of overall business objectives as set out in the annual Global performance scorecard. These include measures around financial targets (Revenues, Costs, RWAs) as well as non-financial measures / obligations around Capital Management, strategic priorities and Risk and Compliance related topics (e.g. Conduct, operational risk).
  • Support effective management of capital whilst operating within a strict control environment / framework and in so doing, optimising profitability.

Requirements

To be successful in the role, you should meet the following requirements:

  • Degree level education preferably with a professional qualification and with substantial experience in a bank treasury capital management department, or related industries either within HSBC or with a relevant market competitor.
  • Experience across the scope of treasury capital activity; capital planning, capital metrics, leverage, structural FX, stress testing, reporting, etc.
  • Strong experience of overseeing multiple significant change programmes via a business-led model, as part of a diversified change portfolio.
  • Strong experience of working with functional areas (IT, Finance/PC, Risk, Operations, Compliance, Audit) in a business management or transformation role.
  • Good understanding of broader treasury operations and banking issues – Capital, liquidity, funding, cash management, structural interest rate risk, transfer pricing.
  • Proven experience and ability in resolving complex issue through leadership, influence and negotiation.
  • Excellent communication and inter-personal skills; strong track record in engaging, challenging and influencing business performance in a large global bank or the financial industry.
  • Ability to communicate in an effective and professional manner with senior management.
