Please review the following job description:

Provide leadership, management and direction for the Testing Center of Excellence (TCOE), Test Automation Engineering, and Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) application. Provide guidance and direction to delivery teams and businesses on software quality and testing solutions. Ensure recommendations are in alignment with Truist policies, standards and processes. Maintain the Truist Test Automation Framework and provide consulting and support to delivery teams to kick start them on their automation journey. Provide technical support for the Truist Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) tool. Understand the Truist core IT competencies and the value they bring to business processes. Interact with internal customers to ensure continuous customer satisfaction.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate, direct and lead first level managers and team members to drive work efforts, primarily focused on the software quality assurance aspects of the various phases of the Software Testing Life Cycle.  Ensure effective requirements analysis, test planning and estimation, test analysis and design, test execution, implementation support and test closure.
  • Develop and maintain Truist Testing Standards, procedures, training and oversight to delivery teams for software quality assurance and testing processes, testing strategies and approaches and standard testing practices.
  • Establish and ensure scheduled milestones on project and program objectives are met in a timely manner.
  • Exhibit an in-depth knowledge of the principles, theories, practices and techniques for accomplishing activities related to planning, designing and managing software testing delivery of projects and programs.
  • Represent the Testing Center of Excellence when working with Truist partners to understand business problems and provide solutions to those problems.
  • Effectively support assigned applications within the assigned area with a focus on delivering high-quality solutions and maintaining production stability.  
  • Provide quality assurance for all software development and integration activities for applications within assigned areas to include small stand-alone enhancements, medium projects and strategic large-scale projects.  May include working with other Enterprise Technology groups on ever-greening and infrastructure initiatives.
  • Establish efficient processes, policies, standards and performance measurements to effectively manage and optimize product delivery. 
  • Provide technical and enhancement support for Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) tool.
  • Lead Test Automation Engineering team, maintaining the Truist Test Automation Framework and working with delivery teams to increase test automation and shift left.
  • Leverage emerging technologies and test automation capabilities to improve business efficiencies, enhance speed-to-market of solution delivery, and support business enterprise transformation and optimization. Promote, instill and demonstrate Truist’s Client Service culture and behavior.
  • Ensure team provides repeatable software testing lifecycle activities and deliverables following industry best practices. 
  • Effectively manage risk through the first line of risk defense, proactively identifying risks and implementing the necessary mitigations based on criticality.
  • Plan and develop departmental budgets in accordance with established guidelines.  Administer compliance to meet budgetary goals and negotiate changes, as required. Plan and manage the Workload Planning process for your team.
  • Provide informational reporting to staff, colleagues, senior management and clients on a regular basis to ensure all relative and critical information is clearly and expeditiously shared.
  • Direct the human resource activities for assigned team (e.g. counseling, conducting performance appraisals, setting performance expectations, addressing performance issues, succession planning).
  • Work with technology vendors to ensure high quality code or service delivery adhering to stated Service Level Agreements (SLAs). Serve as the technical point of contact for applications within assigned areas.
  • Review technical and business processes, standards and procedures, making recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Provide oversight on the efforts of your team to make sure that Enterprise Technology Standards, Processes, and “best practices” are followed
  • Stay abreast of industry trends in software development and testing (Agile and DevOps).

Testing and Quality Engineering Business Management:

  • Manage team financials for project, MOE, and BAU work in alignment with EPEO Business Office
  • Manage process to track audit findings and responses for Testing and Quality Engineering Services risks by working with IT Risk management, Cyber Security, and business leadership.
  • Demand and Release Management
  • Coordinate and facilitate data gathering and other activities between EPEO Business Office and Testing and Quality Engineering Services Leadership team.
  • Collaborate with Testing and Quality Engineering Services Managers to aggregate and summarize information needed from teams to distribute to senior level management and business leadership.
  • Manage Testing and Quality Engineering resource sourcing strategy (FTE/Contractor), tracking and reviewing open and filled positions
  • Manage and facilitate project intake process (estimates, RAC, SOW, Contracts, coordination with Testing and Quality Engineering managers).
  • Coordinate communications across teams (critical updates, communication from CIO, CTO and business leadership). Assist/coordinate pre-planning project activities (e.g. business case, project estimate, project risk assessment, stakeholder analysis, draft charter, project management).
  • Help prepare executive presentations for senior leadership
  • Attend Testing and Quality Engineering Leadership and Management meetings
  • Fulfill adhoc requests as needed Maintain team Engagement

Required Skills and Competencies:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Management, or Management Information Systems or related field, or equivalent education and related training
  • Ten years of progressively responsible managerial and leadership experience in technology with demonstrated proficiency in leading people, driving large-scale technology projects, and managing software quality assurance and testing
  • Five years of experience managing enterprise application system testing and/or complex business application testing delivery initiatives
  • Strong business, industry, and technology domain knowledge with broad understanding of various testing methodologies, approaches and concepts
  • Ability to interact effectively with business and technology stakeholders
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, collaboration and negotiation skills with the ability to deliver optimal, cohesive results
  • Demonstrated experience in vendor management
  • Ability to act strategically while driving execution on multiple initiatives within deadlines
  • Ability to lead dynamic and creative work teams in learning and applying new skills to respond to constantly changing business needs and technology environments
  • Ability to innovate and create original concepts
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and conceptual skills
  • Ability to identify and drive opportunities to improve business performance through technology solutions

Desired Skills:

Advanced degree in technology or management field - Master of Business Administration (MBA), MS Computer Science, MS Software Engineering
