A Test Engineering Co-op in the Product Validation Lab Team has mechanical ability and a basic knowledge of automotive components nomenclature. Current course work may include CAD design projects, group project for a robotics device or other mechanical apparatus. This candidate is self-motivated, can follow instructions and can complete routine assignments with minimal supervision. This person should have excellent written and verbal communication skills and a functional knowledge of Microsoft office computer software systems.
Job Responsibilities:
•Assist Lab Team Leaders, Test Engineers, and Test Technicians with obtaining test sample components and support parts from the parts staging area and delivering them to the appropriate lab test areas.
oLiaison with the Product Validation Program Management department for part number verification of staged materials.
•Communicate effectively with appropriate support functions, such as Product Engineering, Test Engineering, Test Program Coordinator’s and Technicians.
•Assist Test Technicians with basic test set up activities.
•Learn and operate test controllers for structural and/or dynamometer test applications.
•Perform basic analysis of test data and create plots/graphs.
•Assist Test Technicians and/or the Lead Test Engineer with test report information and/or provide written and verbal reporting of test results.
•Assist with moving tested materials to the post-test holding areas or the Materials Engineering Lab.

oSupport CAD design for test fixtures
oWork safely in compliance with Meritor safety guidelines (Safe Start)
oMaintain orderly work area in accordance with Meritor standards
QUALIFICATIONS
•Education
oPursuing technology degree (Associate’s or Bachelor’s), which can be related to mechanical lab testing. Mechanical Engineering or Servo control / Industrial controls preferred.
•Experience
oKnowledge of automotive/commercial vehicle parts and assemblies, mechanical background (oil changes, brake jobs, hand/power tools, etc…), CAD design course work and course group project.
•Skills
oProficient with personal computers, Microsoft Office – Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint, etc.
oCreate Spreadsheets, plots, charts and graphs.
oAble to communicate effectively with coworkers and customers.
•Other
oMinimum 20-24 hours of employment per week, up to 40 if desired. Availability during key laboratory dayshift hours
