Role Summary

The Technician Helper is responsible for assisting Technicians at Alaska Airlines (AS). As a member of the Maintenance & Engineering (M&E) division, this individual contributor role performs miscellaneous unskilled and/or supervised duties in and around aircraft, shops, hangars, and buildings. This is a union represented position.

Key Duties

  • Wash, paint strip, clean and/or polish of the interior or exterior of an aircraft, aircraft parts, engine or engine parts, ramp, shop and hangar equipment.

  • Operate and service the equipment used in the performance of work.

  • Operate ground service equipment and forklift to maneuver equipment and supplies.

  • Assist Technicians in the towing, parking and marshaling of aircraft.

  • Complete the work assigned by the maintenance supervisor or aircraft lead technician in a safe and expeditious manner, exercising good, sound judgment in executing each work project and adhering to Company policies and procedures.

  • Perform miscellaneous unskilled duties in and about shops, hangars and buildings.

  • Ensure that a clean, safe, and orderly work area is maintained at all times.

Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills

Required

  • Possess excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).

  • Ability to be trained and successful in towing aircraft.

  • Ability to consistently lift 70 lbs.

  • Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, reach and grasp.

  • Be adaptable to performing work according to set procedures.

  • Must be organized and be able to work independently or in a team environment.

  • Must have a valid and operable driver’s license.

  • Flexible to work varied shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.

  • Ability to communicate in English.

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Minimum age of 18.

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Preferred

  • 2 years of aviation experience.

Starting Rate

USD $15.06/Hr.
