A bit about the team
The SEO team sits within the Marketing department and works alongside other marketing functions to form a centre of excellence for digital marketing. The SEO team has a high profile, driving a quarter of the company’s traffic globally, and needs talent that can uphold this profile in a credible manner. The Technical SEO Manager will work as part of the wider SEO team to support stakeholders throughout the business.
The Role
The Technical SEO Manager will be responsible for all aspects of technical SEO. Principally this will involve supporting multiple development teams across the business to ensure our sites are built to be search engine friendly while also proactively driving technical SEO innovation and change. With a robust knowledge of technical SEO and an all-round knowledge of SEO best practices, the Technical SEO Manager will be a key point of contact for all development and infrastructure SEO requirements.
What you’ll be doing…
- Support with developing the global SEO strategy alongside the internal SEO team and partner agencies
- Monitor and analyse organic search performance data, flag issues, opportunities and competitor insights utilising industry tools such as Adobe Analytics, STAT, Botify, SEMrush and Search Console
- Compile retrospectives to analyse technical changes and report findings to key stakeholders across the business
- A strong focus on building relationships with internal teams, delivering timely and accurate technical support to influence the right people and the right time
- Be a champion for technical SEO within the business, delivering training and educational sessions to key teams
- Work closely with web teams and product owners delivering clear technical SEO requirement documentation
- Writing business cases, forecasting traffic/revenue impact of changes and championing changes through to completion
- Identifying crawl/indexation issues through site crawl data and logfile analysis
- Keep abreast of the latest search engine guidelines, news, trends, techniques, and technologies as needed to ensure on-going SEO best practice in your day-to-day work
We’d love to meet someone with…
- Minimum 2 years technical SEO experience in a professional work environment with at least 4 years of experience total in an SEO role
- Experience working with a large-scale international website
- Demonstrable experience in HTML/JS/CSS
- Excellent communication skills. Must be a personable and confident team player. Able to build strong collaborative relationships and explain technical concepts to a non-technical audience
- Excellent understanding of modern web development techniques and practices, familiarity with Jira (or similar) tickets and writing technical acceptance criteria a plus
- An understanding of the architecture and infrastructure of large-scale websites
- Proven experience in project management with excellent organisational skills
- Takes responsibility and ownership of assigned tasks; able to handle multiple work streams and deliver to agreed deadlines, managing priorities and focus as needed
- A natural problem solver; demonstrates innovation and a proactive, can-do attitude
- Proven ability to work with large, complex data sets (an understanding of SQL/Python is desirable)
- A strong understanding of online and digital tech
- Full understanding of SEO tools: Search Console, SEMrush (or similar), Botify/Screaming Frog, and Excel – must be numerate and have an analytical approach. Experience with Adobe Analytics and Power BI is a bonus
