Our technology teams in the UK work closely with HSBC’s global businesses to help design and build digital services that allow our millions of customers around the world, to bank quickly, simply and securely. We also run and manage our IT infrastructure, data centres and core banking systems that power the world’s leading international bank.

Our multi-disciplined teams include: DevOps engineers, IT architects, front and back end developers, infrastructure specialists, cyber experts, as well as project and programme managers.

We work in small, agile DevOps teams with colleagues around the world from our offices at the Bluefin Building in Southwark, our global headquarters in Canary Wharf, and multiple other locations around the UK including Sheffield, Leeds, Barnsley and Birmingham.

Following extensive investment across our Technology and Digital domains and with plans for continued expansion throughout 2021 and beyond, we are currently seeking a Technical Programme Manager to join HSBC Technology.

The Tech Lead role is accountable for the Technology delivery within the Finance areas outlined above, working with the business and change delivery leads to ensure that the required business outcomes are delivered across multiple technology teams.
This role faces off to the business and change team on technical solutions and dependencies and liaises with the platform and engineering teams to understand any technical or capacity challenges.

They are accountable for agreeing the delivery roadmap across IT, FCD and Finance, removing impediments and proposing options to overcome delivery challenges.

They will:

  • Drive end to end accountability for business outcomes, working across the Platform/Engineering teams to agree solutions, capacity and delivery timelines
  • Manage end to end creation and delivery of tech products & features
  • Follow Agile methodologies &  DevOps approach
  • Map capacity to required demand to deliver outcomes
  • Maintain right level of governance & control to ensure adherence to HSBC guidelines, specifically working with the business and FCD leads to ensure that the cloud and IT controls are factored into any delivery plans. They will also present any IT related risks for acceptance by the business and will manage the resolution of any open MSIIs.
  • Effective cost & risk management including budget variation for RTB and CTB. They will be responsible for understanding the 2022 book of work and will interlock funding across any impacted teams.
  • Accountable for end to end technology delivery across all teams, ensuring a holistic business service is delivered. This includes application teams upstream and downstream of the Finance applications.
  • Develop clear strategic priorities and liase with the Platform teams to ensure resources are enabled to deliver defined outcomes. Respond to new and emergent customer needs & opportunities
  • Manage tracking of assigned risks, issues & dependencies, feeding into FotC level status reporting.
  • Effective stakeholder management including senior management. This role will be required to represent IT and agree reasonable delivery timeframes, taking into account available budget, resources, controls, etc. 
  • Improve brand perception for all FotC components
  • Engage with Platforms to leverage appropriate pre existing technologies and capabilities for delivery
  • Enforce the quality gates within the delivery cycle, ensuring that requirements and design are well defined and that the test approach and test cases are clear, with reasonable time for completing non-functional testing
  • Ensure work delivery and run are within the bank's risk and control framework and provide evidence for the same
  • Look to the future and ensures there is a robust technology roadmap, working with the architects and platform leads
  • Designing and executing value delivery with an emphasis on quality, sustainability and technical excellence. They will factor service resilience/incident feedback into the delivery roadmap

This role will primarily be London based but working from home is an option
