Without data we wouldn’t be able to tell you the products we have on offer, ship to your address, record your returns, and identify when you should be getting rewards or recommend products that you might like.

Cue Advanced Analytics… We work with big data, leveraging advanced data engineering, analytics and reporting tools/techniques to deliver an accessible store of enterprise data that can be used for business-critical insights and recommendations and enable ASOS to be a Data Driven business.

We have an exciting opportunity to join ASOS in a unique role, where you will be an integral part of two teams – Advanced Analytics, and Insights. As a Technical Data Analyst, you will play a key role in delivering and supporting insights & BI solutions. You will be working as part of a functional delivery team alongside BAs, Architects and Data Engineers to ensure our Insights business are supported to create great data insights for ASOS.

What you’ll be doing:  

• Working as part of cross-functional agile team who design and develop a large-scale, high-volume and high-performance data platform.
• Working with data analysts in Insights to identify and implement report automation
• Deliver and regularly review new datasets for our end users across multiple areas of the business (such as Finance, Retail, Marketing, Digital) .
• Work with analysts to identify and implement dashboards for business insight, using SQL, python and Power BI .
• Managing a varied backlog of data requests, effectively triaging and prioritising requests, reporting back any updates to senior stakeholders
• Take lead on communication between Advanced Analytics and Insight teams, ensuring that regular updates are given in a clear and concise manner.
• Develop a good working knowledge of the data available, documenting and sharing this knowledge with the wider team.
• Investigate and fix reported data or reporting issues, working with engineers to ensure robust & timely solutions for insights dashboards, data and technology pipelines
• You’ll be at the forefront of the technology team , helping us manage the relationship with the ASOS Insights business team and working directly with the data analysts to create a great working data environment containing a great breadth of data such as orders, customer demographics, web interactions and customer communications.

Who we’d like to meet:                                                                                       

• You have a passion for bringing data and people together to drive business value
• You are a self-starter, who loves technology and bringing solutions to people
• Proven track record of being able to effectively prioritise a backlog of requests and communicate updates to senior stakeholders
• Knowledge of data visualisation principles and skills –including good user experience/UI Design within BI solutions.
• Can effectively communicate with and present back to a large group of stakeholders with differing technical ability
• Able to come up with creative solutions in order to solve business problems
• Good working knowledge of SQL and knowledge of Python
• An ability to build strong relationships with end users, eliciting requirements and enabling them to get the most out of the BI platform

It will be a plus to have:   

• Experience automating processes, some shell scripting (ideally PowerShell) and data warehouse concepts.
• Experience in a service or data role previously
• Experience in providing insight to consumers
• You have worked in an Agile environment
