We are looking for three skilled Technical Analysts who will be responsible for providing advice and technical support to committees on economic issues during development and updating of guidelines.
3 x 12-month contracts which will start from contract start dates covering internal secondments and maternity leave
The Technical Analyst will be responsible for providing advice and technical support to committees on economic issues during development and updating of guidelines. This includes systematically identifying and appraising economic evidence to address key health and social care questions and preparing structured summaries of the evidence. The post holder will also undertake the development of original, applied decision models and analyses that will be used to inform the deliberations of the guideline committee (comprising decision-makers who are predominantly clinical, public health, social care and patient experts with limited formal expertise in economics).
To be considered for the role applicantss must demonstrate the following essential criteria:
-Masters degree or Doctorate in a numerate subject or subjects with relevance to evidence-based decision-making (e.g. economics, public health, mathematics, operations research, data science) or equivalent level of knowledge acquired through experience and further training/development
- Substantial experience of at least 1 software package for the implementation of decision models (e.g. Excel [including Visual Basic for Applications], TreeAge, R, WinBUGS, Simul8, Arena).
- Experience using at least 1 software package for the analysis of statistics (e.g. R, Stata, SPSS).
- Ability to take primary responsibility for the conceptualisation, parameterisation and implementation of original decision-analytic models.
- Ability to communicate information accurately and persuasively using a variety of presentation techniques, in accessible language to an audience of varied technical backgrounds, and sensitively to patients who have the medical condition under discussion
- Ability to prioritise own workload and produce high-quality work to meet frequent, non-negotiable deadlines.
