Job Summary

Reporting to the Operations Manager, leads team members to identify, manage, and execute the plant’s process improvement opportunities. Manages production staff to attain production and quality goals. Identifies problems or bottlenecks in production processes and resolves issues. Ensures production resources including materials, equipment and human resources are available as needed to maintain production schedules. Supports continuous improvement goals in safety, quality, cost and customer service. Responsible for managing and owning various functions of the business and creating an engaged and team oriented work force in order to improve business results.

Position Responsibilities

• Supervises production operation to ensure compliance with methods, quality standards, safety regulations, production standards and efficient operations of equipment.

• Provides employee training to ensure that employees are performing job responsibilities effectively.

• Plans and prepares operational schedules for production operations, establishing priorities and sequences for manufacturing products.

• Prepares various daily production reports including KPIs.

• Inspects machines and equipment to ensure specific operational performance and optimum utilization prior to operations.

• Develops or revises standard operational and working practices to ensure compliance with various standards including product spec, food safety, and WSB.

• Leads and facilitates continuous improvement projects.

• Enforces plant rules, regulations and procedures.

• Evaluates subordinate performance, coaches employees, and provides information for work performance improvement.

• Participate in the support of plant and company safety programs, promoting and maintaining a high level of awareness and adherence to defined employee safety requirements such as lock-out/tag-out, personal protective equipment, confined space entry, etc.

• Additional duties as assigned.

Position Qualifications

• Grade 12 minimum with post secondary course in Leadership, Business Administration, Supervision required.

• Must be available to shift-work (Morning, Afternoon, Evenings) as per business needed.

• 3-5 years supervisory experience preferred.

• Previous experience working in a manufacturing/food-processing environment preferred.

• Understanding of manufacturing processes and loss.

• Working knowledge of plant equipment and safety including GMS's

• Excellent communication, interpersonal, problem solving and organizational skills.

Working Conditions:

• Hearing protection and steel toe shoes required
• Cold environment
• Standing and walking for long period of time (approximately 8 hours a day)
• Frequently bending, stooping, crouching, and twisting while transferring product
• Operating mobile equipment
• Exposure to some job-related hazards, including but not limited to: hot oil, moving mechanical parts and heavy machinery, forklifts, slippery floors, climbing ladders and stairs, and heavy objects

• Ability to work flexible shifts if needed including weekends and/or shift work.

• A self-motivated individual that is able to multi-task and lead others.
