Insurance UK are responsible for the manufacturing, sourcing and supply of insurance products and services for HSBC UK, first direct, M&S Bank and Commercial Banking, with external distribution for a number of product lines under both the HSBC and other brands.

 We are currently seeking an experienced individual to join this team in the role of Team Head of Distribution.

Reporting to the Head of Products and Chief Distribution Officer, this leadership role drives and strengthens relationships to support sustainable new business growth.

The role will lead the Distribution teams, managing internal and 3rd party relationships, including the HSBC Life Co Marketing agenda.  They will draw on expertise to innovate and guide the future product and proposition strategy, whilst enabling current new business performance outcomes to meet and exceed planning expectations through internal and external distribution channels. 

This role will demonstrate knowledge and expertise to ensure an acceptable risk profile is achieved which protects the banks reputation whilst deepening our customer understanding through credit and customer due diligence.

In this role, your responsibilities will be to:

 

  • To innovate and guide the product and proposition strategy for Insurance in the UK through the leadership of the Distribution Teams
  • Demonstrating a detailed understanding of the key business metrics (profit, brand, resource and cost) and driving new business performance to achieve and exceed AOP
  • Constantly be aware of developments of our competitors’ propositions and ensure market intelligence is reported to the Product Managers
  • Applying an understanding of Bank, Insurance, data, digital and industry knowledge to formulate effective strategies that meet customer needs, secure competitive advantage, reduce costs and/or improve income
  • Planning and prioritising activities to ensure delivery in line with agreed objectives; individual and business.
  • Demonstrate leadership through personal drive, energy, tenacity and resilience through a complex governance and matrix managed business.
  • Driving the promotion and profile of HSBC Life products and services internally and externally
  • Initiating, building and maintaining trusted relationships with key internal and external stakeholders
  • Understanding, aspiring and managing yourself and others to ensure that right results are achieved, in the right way – in line with HSBC’s Values and Behaviours.
  • Self –motivated and able to work with minimal guidance and supervision on a day to day basis.
  • Driving change in the wider team, sharing knowledge and expertise, either in a line role, project team or cross functional group.
  • Driving self-development and developing others to bring out the best in everyone in an inclusive way.
  • Ensure all activity is compliant at all times with both internal guidelines and external governing bodies e.g. FCA
  • Ensure all activities are performed within the HSBC governance directives and guidelines.
  • Ensure adequate management information is recorded and reported.
  • Demonstrating understanding and adherence to the regulatory environment and Governance Process.
  • Deliver fair outcome for our customers and ensure own conduct maintains the orderly and transparent operation of financial markets.
 

Qualifications

 

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

  • Excellent knowledge of life insurance products and sales channels
  • In-depth knowledge of the UK Protection Market and analysing the movements and trends within it
  • Highly self-motivated with a proven business development track record
  • Effective planning, organisational and time management skills
  • Solid influencing skills
  • Excellent relationship management skills
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Experience of negotiating at senior level.

 

The base location for this role is flexible, however, UK travel will be required.
