Tax Analyst, State Tax - Decatur, IL
Corporate Tax
This is a full-time exempt level position.

Position Summary:
We are searching for a self-motivated, enthusiastic tax analyst to join our corporate tax department, who will report to the Director of State Taxes. The candidate will be part of our state tax group with duties that will concentrate in the state area and will be involved  with all elements of the state income and franchise tax function.  Included will be the filing of state income and franchise tax returns for a multitude of business entities, gathering state apportionment data and importing that data into our tax software,  filing annual reports and business licenses, completing special projects, tax research and planning.  The position will involve identifying, researching and analyzing tax law regarding accounting and business transactions.  Additionally, the candidate will have opportunities to assist in other areas of the department.  This position provides broad exposure to all of ADM’s business divisions and companies and will work with other corporate departments, including accounting, finance, legal and operations.
Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or business administration (with accounting emphasis)
Preferred 3-5 years accounting experience
Experience in a corporate tax department or CPA firm’s tax group a strong plus
CPA or advance degree a plus, but not required
Information technology experience ( HFM, IBM, JDE, and SAP) a plus
Familiarity with electronic tax research tools (e.g. RIA, BNA, CCH) and tax compliance software (e.g. CorpTax) a plus
Job Requirements:

Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to function independently and decisively in a fast paced and priority changing environment
Skilled at managing multiple projects and priorities to meet numerous deadlines
Proficient with MS Office Suite
Responsibilities:
Calculate and prepare state income, franchise and miscellaneous tax returns
Request, compile, calculate, analyze and reconcile apportionment data
Calculate and prepare state estimates and extensions, including payment requests
Prepare tax accrual journal entries and account reconciliations
Research and analyze tax jurisdiction notices and communicate with state representatives
Analyze tax data from various systems and functions
Assist with tax special projects (e.g., refunds, credits, incentives, law change impact analysis, etc.)
Assist global tax accounting with effective tax rate and closing activities
Assist with federal subsidiary returns and domestic FCIR packages
Coordinate preparation of miscellaneous tax returns and business licenses with GBS
