  • Plans, develops, coordinates and reviews engineering work for assigned Tanks Business Line projects.
  • Supervises the day-to-day work of assigned engineers and designers.
  • Communicates complex technical issues and recommends solutions to TBL Deputy Engineering Manager.
  • Conducts performance reviews in accordance with approved procedures and holds career development discussions.
  • Provides recommendations for personnel actions such as staff additions, terminations, transfers and salary changes.
  • Prepares or oversees the preparation of TBL engineering estimates and work plan in accordance with project scope, schedule and budget, and manages implementation and performance accordingly.
  • Estimates staffing needs and schedules and assigns work to meet schedule dates.
  • Coordinates with client representatives as delegated to obtain their approval on phases of work.
  • Reviews and approves key engineering drawings and calculations, including field and design documents relating to TBL work.
  • Coordinates assigned engineering work with other project groups.
  • Ensures that direct reports receive appropriate on-the-job training for their professional development.
  • Promotes the creation of a work environment, supported by leadership, which fosters openness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation, and satisfaction.

 Qualifications and Skills

Basic Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of experience in performing storage tank engineering and excellent knowledge of engineering methods and materials relating to tank structures and associated systems.
  • Extensive technical knowledge and experience in the design, detailing and construction of above ground storage tanks to API 620, API 650, API 625, and AWWA.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Understanding of tank design programs and CAD tools used in the execution of storage tanks engineering.
  • Thorough understanding of storage tank construction including the use and limitations of construction equipment and sequencing of work.
  • Knowledge of Welding processes and practices used in the construction of storage tanks.
  • Have experience in Quality assurance requirements relating to the fabrication and construction of storage tanks.
  • Complete understanding of the MR process relating to the procurement of bulk materials and equipment on LNG storage tanks, field erected storage tanks and sphere projects.
  • Broad knowledge of industry/regulatory codes and standards, Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs), Engineering Department Procedures, and project controls and design criteria in all engineering disciplines. Broad knowledge of administrative practices.

 Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent communications and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and time management skills.
  • Commitment to safety, ethics, and integrity.
  • Demonstrated skill in leadership. Prior experience with leading a team is preferred.
  • US PE License preferred.
