Project Overview
The ML2 Project involves the design and construction of a launch platform for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). The purpose of ML2, located at Kennedy Space Center (KSC), is to provide a launch platform for the Space Launch System (SLS), an advanced launch vehicle that will fill America’s need for deep space missions. ML2 includes many different subsystems that must operate and fit within the constraints of the structure and provide physical interface with KSC launch sites’ ground systems.
Position Summary:
This position is for a Systems Engineer (SE) to lead/execute systems engineering activities including management, organization and verification of complex design requirements, within a systems engineering environment for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). The SE plays a critical role in the delivery of the Requirements Management, Configuration Management, Human Factors Engineering, and other aspects of the Systems Engineering program for Bechtel work products and designs, as well as for coordination of the scope and integration of work with internal and external stakeholders. The successful candidate must have strong organizational and teamwork skills, proven problem-solving abilities, can-do attitude, and the desire to innovate designs.
Responsibilities:
This position will be responsible for executing systems engineering work assignments concerned with specialized unique engineering requirements in a global business unit. This involves exploration of subject area, definition of scope, and may involve development of novel concepts, approaches, and solutions. The ideal candidate will have solid experience in executing requirements management and other aspects of systems engineering along with design development experience producing design documents for government customers. The candidate will be interfacing and coordinating with other engineering disciplines and the client in the management and verification of the facility requirements. The position will be responsible for developing key systems engineering documents and must have a broad knowledge of industry and regulatory standards and design criteria pertinent to engineering and construction. In addition, it will be required that the candidate have excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) so as the effectively serve as the “face†of Bechtel, promoting our leadership, quality, and safety values to our external partners and stakeholders.

Interface with the NASA client/customer on technical issue studies, resolutions, and recommendations
Establishes means of verifying requirements implementation, including acceptance criteria
Leads/develops system and facility design requirements documents
Support system-level design verification, requirements verification, test requirements specification and requirements flowdown and traceability
Develops key engineering documents related to the systems engineering discipline
Perform model-based Systems Engineering using Innoslate by Spec Innovations, a commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) automation tool
Performs research and documentation that establishes system operations and limits that are obtained from the review of design and basis documents and from discussions with system designers
Performs impact analyses for proposed requirement changes
Leads periodic assessments to validate implementation and traceability of requirements into design
Supports maintaining Configuration Management within the Program
Accountable for error-free deliverables
Leads coordination with other technical disciplines in planning and executing work as an integrated team
