About the Role
Supporting our Special Projects and Weapon Systems line of business, several key projects require the sustainment and development of tactical and strategic weapons systems. Integrating into numerous wider multi-disciplinary engineering teams in this business area, the applicant will be performing key analyses to support the shared endeavours of each team.
The role suits a modelling and simulation engineer wishing to specialize in the analyses of atmospheric and exo-atmospheric systems.
Self-drive will be required in order to deliver programme activities and milestones, and the role will on occasions be customer facing.
Although highly desirable, the applicant need not necessarily have considerable experience, therefore will be supported by other subject matter experts in their development where necessary.
The successful applicant will have a rewarding engineering career in a highly stimulating defence world.
Key areas of work will include:
Modelling & Simulation of atmospheric and exo-atmospheric systems.
Developing and assessing dynamic models alongside existing commercial and bespoke toolsets.
Assessing performance and working with other engineering disciplines to refine solutions.
Required skills, qualifications and experience
Experience in systems engineering activities
Experience of Matlab & Simulink
Excellent Technical Author
Experience of requirements management, with Rhapsody/DOORS beneficial
Experience of SysML / UML
Experience of developing models from first principles
Clear and concise report writing skills.
Good presentation skills.
Good team working skills are essential since the role involves working in teams that will be multi-disciplinary.
Desired skills, qualifications and experience
Conducted Trade Studies and/or design analysis
Conducted Performance modeling studies
Awareness of the role and implications of different numerical techniques for model-based prediction
Experience in Operational analysis and Mission effectiveness studies
Experience in defence applications such as Weapons, Ballistic Missile Defence or strategic weapons
Experience in RF and EO analysis or Radar modelling/tracking
Modelling experience inc 3/6 degree-of-freedom modelling
