About the Role

Supporting our Special Projects and Weapon Systems line of business, a new project has a requirement to develop novel solutions to complex problems encompassing a range of engineering disciplines. The role is primarily a Systems Engineering one, however an appreciation of electromechanical systems, software engineering and modern manufacturing processes would be highly beneficial.

Experience in the domain of ballistic missile and strategic system design, performance and behaviour would be highly desirable, although the applicant need not necessarily have considerable experience. They will be supported by other subject matter experts in their development where necessary.

Lateral thinking, initiative and self-driven research will be required in order to deliver programme activities and milestones. The role will on regular occasions be customer facing.

Due to the nature of the work, remote working will rarely be possible and the applicant must be prepared to work from the office the majority of the time. They must also already hold at least SC clearance, be prepared to obtain and maintain a DV clearance and must be a sole UK National. Security requirements unfortunately exclude dual nationals from being eligible for this position.

Key areas of work will include:

Tackling complex engineering challenges utilising a multi-disciplinary approach

Systems engineering analysis of the consequences of design decisions

Identifying, proposing and executing self-directed areas of research and development

Interacting with other team members with areas of SME knowledge to develop promising solutions as part of the wider team

Required skills, qualifications and experience

Demonstrated experience delivering solutions to complex systems engineering challenges

Demonstrated experience in successful delivery of work carried out both independently and as part of a team

Demonstrated experience in fast learning of new concepts and skills

Demonstrated ability to communicate ideas to both expert and non-expert stakeholders, through written and verbal means.

Experience in ballistic missile defence and strategic weapons

Excellent technical author

Must already hold a minimum of SC clearance with a willingness to immediately seek DV clearance.

Nature of the work means the applicant must be a sole UK national and not a dual national

Desired skills, qualifications and experience

Experience in the domain of ballistic missile and strategic system design, performance and behaviour

Additional understanding of a wide range of engineering disciplines including (but not necessarily limited to) electromechanical systems, software engineering and modern manufacturing processes.

Understanding of the safety, environmental and possible socio-political consequences of engineering design decisions.

Current DV clearance would be highly beneficial
