Job Description

The Supply Planning Manager is responsible to ensure long and short term continuity of supply of finished products and co-products to our customers while optimizing FMAp resource allocation, meeting established specifications and schedules. This role focuses on long and short term manufacturing planning, considering available capacity, ensuring production volume meets sales forecasts and actual orders

  What You’ll Do for Us 

Demand Management

Collect and validate available customers’ volume forecasts.  Gather any missing data or proactively validate any questionable forecast information with customers. 

Continuously compare customer forecasts to business plan to confirm forecast accuracy and volume changes throughout the year.

Lead forecast review and forecast performance sessions with key customers.

Review, analyze and update forecasts in the ERP system and MRP run data.

Prepare and host monthly Sales and Operations Planning meetings with the management team, including other relevant parties to ensure the operational plan is signed off by all functions.

Prepare monthly volume Rolling Estimate for Finance.  Analysis against Business plan and make appropriate planning adjustments. 

Approves customers “rush order” or “early release” requests within an agreed upon time frame.  Notify Customer Service of any possible delays due to ingredient availably, production delays or IQD approval delays.

Review customer open orders and publish each order’s status for Customer service on a weekly basis.

Inventory Management: 

Establish and/or enforce Flavor Manufacturing finished and co-products inventory policies while completing specific actions to adjust or bring inventories to optimal levels when necessary.

Validate and approve or reject Material planner purchasing requests for ingredients, raw materials, packaging, and miscellaneous items ensuring compliance with inventory policies.

Coordinate and discuss Flavor Manufacturing raw material allocation decisions between manufacturing plants.

Provide Strategic Ingredients Supply (SIS) raw material forecasts and requirements for upcoming year contract negotiations.

Complete an annual Supplier Risk Assessment, including development of mitigation plans to reduce top risks.

Production Planning:

Ensure long and short term manufacturing plan is in line with finished product sales updated forecasts. (Planning should look into key time segments (annual, semester, quarter and month).

Ensure a top priority list is timely provided to production, based on customer updated requirements, lead times, etc. while coordinating with production any delay or change to ensure manufacturing priorities will meet customer orders.

Update and maintain finished product and intermediate MRP item planning detail requirements and MRP settings.

Support the Technical group with the creation of long-term inventory quality plans ensuring suitable materials are allocated for use

Support Technical with production folders for scheduled items.

Ensure enforcing the First-In-First Out (FIFO) principle for raw material use where applicable. 

Capacity Planning

Determine available capacity for the different manufacturing centers, key equipment and storage tanks

Ensure continuous capacity analysis and communication to the other plant functions.

Plan equipment use and coordinate with process chemists on production plans and intermediate specifications.

Communicate storage tank availability to relevant parties (e.g. production, materials planning).

Co-product management

Coordinates co-product forecasts and sales with Strategic Ingredients Supply representative.

Track CIP (co-product) material usage and ensure spent material adequate outlet planning.  Trend to anticipate annual requirements.

Scheduling

Support production to develop a weekly production schedule when required.

Provide input during production plan adjustments when required. 

New Products and Commercialization

Participates with other key internal and external key functions (e.g. Research & Development and Commercialization on new product launches and sunsets to minimize exposure risks.

Support R&D/OU New Product projects in an agreed upon timeline with the business unit(s) to ensure speed to market  (Ensure ingredients, manufacturing, ingredients for new products is ready).

Work with Design, Development and Commercialization on new product launches and sunsets to minimize exposure risks and ensure raw market availability to meet the proposed demands.  Coordinate with IQD on new product specification requirements to ensure regulatory requirements are met.

Finance Support

Assists Finance with anticipated product requirements and provide input for the creation of the annual business plan.

Assist Finance with new product costing by review new formulas for more cost-effective alternate ingredients, ingredient break down use, packaging data.  Work with R&D lead and Technical Manager on suggested changes to ensure we are still meeting quality and labelling claims.  

Other responsibilities

Collaborate with various departments to implement continuous improvements projects.

Ensure department training requirements are met. 

Participates in Management Review of the business.

Serve as a lead auditor in FM internal audits schedule. 

Support our Integrated Management System through actively becoming an internal auditor (KORE or ISO requirements, 5S program).

Ensure all processes under this role’s responsibilities are properly documented to ensure a standard approach that could be improved with time.

Actively participate in the daily communication center and provide input or share information when necessary.

 Qualification & Requirements 

University degree in Industrial Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Supply Chain, Business Administration or any technical related field.

Master in Business Administration degree is considered a plus.

APICS certification is considered a plus.

Minimum of 5+ years of experience in manufacturing facility in a similar supply chain role.

Functional Skills

Knowledge of supplier fulfilment capabilities to meet customer and internal requirements. Ability to build system capability and capacity to ensure service is provided effectively, timely and efficiently. 

Excellent analytical, problem solving, decision making and strategic thinking skills, with ability to navigate and prioritize multiple conflicting demands.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including influencing, listening, teamwork and building value-based relationships.

Ability to make decisions based on analytical results.

Experience with SAP or similar ERP systems is an advantage.

Demonstrated interaction with senior managers (Finance, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, Legal, etc.).

Key skills include long and short-term planning. Organizing, leading change, influencing and communicating widely.

Food processing or pharmaceutical planning experience.

Considered a plus: Quality systems (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001) experience and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
