Job Description

Avery Dennison is seeking a Supply Chain Buyer/Planner to join our Reflective Solutions business located at our Painesville, OH site. As the Supply Chain Buyer/Planner, you will use your skills and experience to become an integral member of our Reflectives Global Supply Chain team.

This key role will supervise and handle the Painesville plant material flow to support Operations by buying, planning, implementing and supervising the overall supply chain strategy to increase efficiency and production for the Reflective sheeting business. This role will have regular cross functional collaboration with Operations, Customer Service, and R&D.

Key Accountabilities

Raw materials planning & purchasing and Inventory management:

  • Drive materials replenishment plan to minimize cost and handle inventory to optimum levels without impacting customer service level.
  • Prioritize external customer and global regional internal orders based on requested order dates, production campaigns, and manufacturing capacity.
  • Create and maintain supplier stocking strategies and/or VMI programs.
  • Participates in the Painesville plant physical inventory process, when needed.

Supplier management:

  • Build and maintain good relationships and lasting partnerships with the global supply base.
  • Collaborate with Global Procurement to maintain supplier pricing tables.
  • Establish and maintain suppliers and parts in the system.
  • Engage suppliers through regular supplier meetings and create supplier performance scorecards.
  • Gain insights into industry trends and supplier operations.
  • Back up at the site level to production scheduling and other planner/buyer for other portfolios.

Projects:

  • Initiate or lead efforts in projects on planning optimization, inventory reduction, service improvement and supply chain processes.
  • Conduct root cause analysis.
  • Support product transitions and new product introductions.

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering, System Engineering, Operations Management, or Supply Chain Management.
  • At least 3 years relevant experience in manufacturing, planning, scheduling or purchasing.
  • APICS, CPM, or equivalent certifications in supply planning and inventory management preferred

Knowledge & Skills

  • Good working knowledge of Supply / Demand Planning, MRP and ERP concepts.
  • Excellent analytical skills with problem solving abilities.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing and supply chain processes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, critical thinking skills.
  • Familiar with process documentation and improvement.
  • Ability to use ELS problem solving tools to identify root cause. (A3 Thinking)
