Supplier Strategy & Analytics Manager

The Supplier Strategy and Analytics Manager is responsible for building and driving new sourcing capabilities to unlock our next generation of value leadership. Leveraging cost modeling and consulting for sourcing managers across categories, this role will identify & deliver annual Cost Savings opportunities of 6-7% for raw materials and packaging materials for Mars Wrigley North America.  As a result, enabling future profitable growth for our business. 

Identifies savings opportunities and provides guidance/insight to sourcing managers for supplier negotiations. Applies critical knowledge to influence Cross Functional Brand teams, future product roadmap, and sourcing decisions. This role sits on the MWNA Commercial Sourcing Team and Supports Raw Material and Packaging Categories

What are we looking for?

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • 5+ years of experience in Procurement, Finance, Supply Chain

  • Packaging or external manufacturing experience

  • Core functional expertise in procurement

  • Proven success in project and process management

  • Strong Analytics

  • Supply Chain Experience

  • Preferred qualifications:

  • MS/MBA/Post graduate qualifications

  • Procurement Center of Excellence Experience

  • Experience building Cost Models

What will be your key responsibilities?

  • Supports development and execution of the 6-7% Prime Value Leadership agenda for the next 3 years, focused on both activities and capability building as needed.

  • Drives achievement of savings through the continuous benchmarking of different components and of different product solutions while meeting Mars Wrigley Quality Standards.

  • Develops “Should-Cost” models/clean sheets of materials which requires a deep understanding of cost drivers and the manufacturing process in order to identify areas for cost savings opportunity:

  • Analyzes costs built from existing bills of materials

  • Identifies the various resources available to gather the appropriate data needed to build a cost model

  • Evaluates current specifications and compare to industry standard to identify potential cost savings through alignment

  • Ability to calculate yields, overhead, labor & profit in order to determine a fair price

  • Identifies savings opportunities and provides guidance/insight to sourcing managers for supplier negotiations

  • Applies this knowledge to influence Cross Functional Brand teams, future product roadmap, and sourcing decisions.

  • Support Sourcing Managers in:

  • Building category strategies, supply base, and MPC business environment to provide creative supply solutions minimizing supply risk

  • Provide analytical support and input for forecasts, capacity planning, various procurement requests (RFI, RFP, RFQ, etc.), negotiations, procurement strategies, cash delivery, and other procurement tools 

  • Analyzing supplier quotations and bids to co-develop product recommendations

  • Potential stretch opportunity to support other categories outside of current raw material focus.

  • Develop materials, systems, methods, and recommended materials to assure the most economical product manufacturing, through a continuous benchmark activity.

  • Plan and direct teardowns (including via 3rd parties) to obtain valid cost benchmark

  • Partner with Suppliers and R&D team to evaluate products made with different ingredients and identify the opportunity costs associated with each ingredient

  • Deliver market information and analysis to drive business understanding of sourcing categories.  This can include leading creation and implementation of strategic supplier initiatives to deliver sustained competitive advantage.

  • Develop standardized templates, tools, processes, analytics and common vocabulary for deployment across the function that enhances overall performance in partnership with Mars Global Services.
